The levels of prana we experience throughout the day determine the state of our minds. Prana levels are increased when we see things of beauty, hear our favourite piece of music, exchange deep and meaningful words in conversation, feel the warm embrace of another human, take the first bite of a scrumptious meal or when we take a few moments to observe our breath at the end of a long day. Through our five senses we experience all the magic that is around us. Join me on a journey as I explore the sources of prana, with food being the greatest focus. This year’s theme, “Ayurveda for People and Planet,” reminds us that Ayurveda is not just for human health but also extends to plants, animals, and the entire ecosystem. At its heart, Ayurveda teaches us to live in harmony with nature and to cultivate gratitude for it.

More and more people are beginning to realize its relevance—that when we truly care for ourselves, we are also caring for the environment. The more I learn about Ayurveda, the more I realise what a deep and vast ocean of knowledge it is - but how do you actually live it? It wasn’t until I followed this Vedic process of Shravana, Manana and Nididhyasa, that the wisdom actually sank in.

Someone grew these in their garden and thought I was a worthy recipient! 😍

(Celebrating the little things 🥳)

These lovely beetroots and their leaves were used to completion:

🥬 The leaves were added to a stir-fry along with tofu and red onions. Simple masala: salt, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, ginger, garlic, green chilli and lemon juice.
🥬 The actual beers were turned into a pickle with vinegar, rock sugar, thyme, black peppercorns and yellow mustard seeds.
🥬 The stalk were added to a pasta sauce.

A little goes a long way 😉
