Grip strength is a great indicator to assess how well you are aging.
Ask your therapist on your next visit to assess your grip at The Balance Group.

We are talking about the importance of maintaining your balance and what causes it to decline. Simple little exercises you can incorporate into your daily life to prevent the loss of balance, which is one of the signs of aging.

Building healthy habits is so important. We don’t want you to rush it or to take on too much. This is a big danger in January.
Think of sustainable long term life changes, not quick fixes. This avoids injuries and has a higher rate of success.
If doing it alone is too daunting, we are here to keep you accountable.

We wish everyone a wonderful festive season and end of year.

We are still open until the 24th of December and will then close until the 4th of January.

We look forward to seeing you again as of the 5th of January.

Many of our clients come to us with Padel injuries. And most of us had never played. So for our end of year event we went to Camps Bay. It was fun and gave us a much better understanding of the game.

Taking a break is important. Both from work, but also from exercise. Muscles are built in the rest phase. So go out and enjoy this time of year guilt free (and maybe exercise free) and come back to it in full strength in 2026.

End of year Special Offer:

Come for a sports massage to start your holiday pain free.

10% discount on your next 60min massage.

We have 3 great massage therapists to choose from and we are open until the 24th of December.

To claim the Special, just mention it when booking the massage.

Prenatal Pilates is all about maintaining strength and stability as mom and baby grow🤰

During pregnancy, hormones like relaxin increase. This causes the ligaments to loosen and the joints to widen to make space for the growing baby. This extra mobility is why maintaining strength and stability is so important throughout pregnancy.

During this session with Nicole, who is 26th weeks pregnant, we focused on:

⭐️ Foot and ankle circulation to help offset the effects of swollen ankles commonly seen in the 2nd & 3rd trimester

⭐️ 3-dimensional core awareness, stability, and endurance — challenged by moving the arms and legs in different directions.

⭐️ Trunk control and gentle, isolated strengthening in ways that are safe for the 2nd & 3rd trimester.

⭐️ Hip and knee strength to support the changes occurring around the pelvis and lower back

At The Balance Group we have a full women’s health team: Nicole is our women’s health Physiotherapist , Sarah is our women’s health Pilates instructor and it comes in handy that she is an experienced physio as well.
Dzunani is our women’s health Biokineticist.
One team under one roof working hand in hand.

Let’s talk more about mobility. We have always been passionate about it and the importance of incorporating mobility into daily life cannot be repeated enough.

However, one correction to this video. While clicks are nice, this is not the main reason we are posting these short videos.
We want to show what we believe at The Balance Group. We are not about trends, or movement fads, or fancy equipment.
We believe that when movement, in all its beautiful forms, is incorporated into daily life, when it becomes a routine and a lifestyle, we live a better, happier and more balanced life.

Mobility exercises is not something many people enjoy. Toni thinks we should move away from looking at it as a chore and rather see it as a lifestyle.
If it can be part of your morning and evening routine everyone wins.
It does not need to be more than 10-15min a day. Keep it simple and just do it daily for maximum benefit

Fitness anxiety is a thing. Many of us are overwhelmed with information received of how, when and what to train for optimal health. The “noise” is real and we do not want to be part of the problem.

Toni advises to take a deep breath, listen to what you enjoy doing and to keep it simple. Any type of movement is better than no movement. Start somewhere and see where it takes you.

Osteoporosis is something us “older” women hear a lot about.
There are things we can do to stay healthy and empower us instead of make us anxious.
