Diabetes SA Western Cape

Diabetes SA Western Cape Diabetes is the leading cause of premature death in Cape Town. We need to start setting a good example, educating ourselves and our
children about diabetes.

Diabetes SA is primarily a volunteer organisation and relies heavily on people with diabetes and their families who pool their talents, share their knowledge and experiences and give of their time to help each other. There can be serious consequences...
DSA Western Cape Branch believes in promoting healthy life style choices and diabetes self-care, which is a vitally important and a cost-effective investment. People living with diabetes must be given the support and encouragement that gives them the means to do this. Treating diabetes complications is far more expensive than trying to ensure preventative measures are in place. DSA has operated successfully as mainly volunteer run organization up to now, but cannot continue to do so if we are to successfully achieve our long-term objectives. There is an explosion of diabetes worldwide and developing countries like South Africa are the worst hit. It is imperative that we expand the programs and services offered by DSA, but to do this we need support and funding from individuals,
government and private corporations.

“How are you?”These are the three words which I absolutely hate to hear, but can’t seem to get away from. Almost every person who I pass during the day utters those words, and I hate it. I know they’re not doing it on purpose. I know that they’re just trying to be nice. But I never feel that quest

After my interview with Rick Phillips (a contributor here at Diabetes Daily) for TuDiabetes a few weeks ago, I took some time to reflect on what we discussed. There were a lot of acronyms in there: CGM, DSMA, and a couple of others I can’t remember right now.You can probably relate to this when

70 or 80 years ago, a diagnosis of diabetes meant a very short life. Today, we are lucky to have insulin, medication, and technology! Share this if you agree!
