When the French philosopher René Descartes formulated the sentence “I think, therefore I am” (cogito ergo sum) in 1641, he painted a powerful picture of ourselves.

In addition to the numerous discussions about the validity and logic of this sentence, one essential aspect remains relevant to this day. Namely, we acknowledge that we are determined by our thinking. We are thought-oriented beings.

It is estimated that we have between 12,000 and 60,000 thoughts per day. A study showed that 85 % of the things we think about won’t actually happen. This often occurs in the form of repetitive thought loops. So, it might be beneficial for us to think a bit less. The very idea of spending your time in a state of silence instead of aimless thoughts seems pleasant and sensible. No sooner said than done: how about the thought of disposing of a few thoughts.

If you had told me 15 years ago when I started yoga that, I would teach yoga, own and yoga studio and get involved in the rehab space I would not really have been able to conceive it. It is wonderful how life can change and present you with new opportunities. thank you for creating new opportunities and a thank you for helping helping me help those who need movement in their lives still keep moving.

Just like that holidays are over. Life returns to normal next week for parents with school going children. Join me for a week of twists and backbends as we ease back into things mobilizing our spine, shoulders and hips. Creating space in our bodies and minds at we the start of a new year.

As a yoga teacher my relationship with the practice has changed. When I practise yoga now it brings a different joy than it used to. The joy of teaching comes from seeing your students benefit from the practice like I used. Buy every now and again I manage to recapture that magic of being a student, having that blissful savasana and remembering what it felt like before being a teacher. And who could not love a class in this is magnificent setting and recapturing that joy of yoga and just moving.
