I believe that this changes the world. As we navigate all the fear, stress and sadness we experience daily just living in this beautiful country - extending this grace to everyone we meet is hope.

And children and teens respond to this with grace, acceptance and connection. Sadly, we are so used to living a different way - authenticity is vulnerable and scary. But it is the path to genuine connection.

This simple principle is oxygen to your relationship with your children throughout their lives.

We know that parents and caregivers are hugely important in the lives of children. We know that as adults we need to model the behaviour we want to see. So I know you might see/read this image and think "uhuh, yeah" and move on. But I would like to invite you to pause a little longer and think about what it would be like to really LIVE THIS.

What do you need to change or work on?

Reconsidering our carefully held beliefs is scary! I'm aware of the vulnerability parents feel when seeking help - I've been that parent. But it creates powerful change that has generational consequences.

Flourishing Homes & Families 💕

When you are faced with new information that contradicts your past parenting choices, you may feel guilt, disappointment, regret, confusion, frustration, uncertainty, or vulnerability. But don’t forget to honor how very brave you are. ❤️

So often misunderstood...

“Selective mutism is an anxiety disorder characterized by a person’s inability to speak in certain social settings such as at school, work, or in the community. People with SM are typically able to speak comfortably and communicate well in other settings, such as at home with family.”

E is for Endings
Endings are important in Play Therapy. For many children the beginnings, middles and ends of relationships and life events may have been unclear, sudden or painful. Experiencing a planned ending with a therapist, provides opportunities to feel and express previously unarticulated experiences about goodbyes and loss, through play or art-making.
