Body Stress Release - Milnerton

Body Stress Release - Milnerton Body Stress Release is a non-therapeutic, complementary health technique focusing on restoring communication within the body to release stored tension

Body Stress Release (BSR) - assists the body in its in-built ability to maintain and heal itself. It is a gentle procedure, where areas of body stress are located, using the body as 'n biofeedback monitor. Light, precise stimulation encourages the body to release stored tensions, which usually manifest as backache, headaches, postural distortions or fatigue. Releasing is rapid, but if stress has been stored for a long time, more releases may be required over a period of time.

There has been times in my life that I didn’t know how to care for myself, and prioritise my wellbeing. I have not yet perfected self-care, but I am doing much better.

Self-care is becoming more and more vital in this world of insensitivity and self-centredness. But make sure once you have given you what you need to remain gentle and kind, you don't forget to turn it outward too. One thing that is glaringly obvious is that the world needs a lot more tenderness.

“The Impulse conference provided BSR Practitioners with the opportunity to identify new perspectives and approaches to support personal growth and community connections. Areas such as work/life integration; identifying our own energy strengths and limitations, for example, how many clients we see in a day; joining local pilates classes, sports clubs, attending workshops/talks, volunteering will all assist in maintaining and growing our practices and ensuring our own self care.” ~ Des Attwood, Constantia, Cape Town

Some good old sciatica, brought to you by the wallet in your back pocket.

Carrying a wallet in your back pocket may have some unexpected consequences on your posture and overall physical health.
When you sit or stand with a bulky wallet in your back pocket, it may cause your hips to tilt, which in turn may lead to a curvature of the spine and put strain on your lower back. This may result in discomfort, poor posture, and even long-term issues like sciatica or herniated discs.
Additionally, the constant pressure on your glutes and thighs may lead to muscle imbalance and discomfort. It's wise to consider alternative storage options, such as a front pocket or a wallet clip, to avoid these potential problems and maintain a healthy, balanced posture.

With the stress of mid-term exams approaching; not to mention the constant barrage of things our teens need to deal with these days - from peers and social networks. Why not bring your child to BSR? Whether they are struggling with stress or not. BSR can help them think clearer, focus easier and sleep better during this time.

Trust the process 💚

The effect of BSR is to improve the communication between the brain and the cells of the body, thereby assisting the body to restore normal function. Over the years we have observed how this is an ongoing process and thus the technique practices the following guidelines with regards to sessions:
Three Initial sessions are needed to experience the full benefit of BSR.
1) Intensive Phase – Essential / Required
Day 1, Day 4, (possibly Day 7) and Day 11
This is to address the immediate reason for attending BSR – Pain, discomfort, postural distortion, headaches, emotional stress etc.
2) Subsequent Phase - Recommended
Once every week or every second week (depending on individual case requirements)
This Phase is to continue unlocking stored tension / body stress at deeper levels as the body returns to an optimal state of well-being.
3) Maintenance Phase – Your commitment to your health and well-being
Once every 3 weeks, monthly or every 6 weeks
On-going health maintenance – Most people honour the principle of prevention when it comes to their car, ensuring that it is serviced on a regular basis. We would be wise to give our bodies the same consideration and attend regular sessions of BSR to assist the body in maintaining optimal health.

New Outreach at Rondevlei Learning Centre

We’re excited to share that a new Body Stress Release (BSR) Outreach has begun at the Rondevlei Learning Centre in the Garden Route!

This initiative was first started by one of our colleagues from Holland, whose dedication laid a wonderful foundation. In the spirit of collaboration and sustainability, we’ve been asked to step in and continue this valuable work—ensuring the Outreach aligns with the core principles of BSR and remains consistent and accessible for the learners.

As always, our goal is to support long-term wellbeing. That’s why we encourage monthly maintenance sessions, which play a key role in releasing stored tension and maintaining the body’s natural ability to heal.

We’re honoured to be part of this journey with the Rondevlei community.
