Jose Kenyon BSc (Hons) Acupuncture
T: 021 813 9952 / 076 567 8477
I studied and worked as an acupuncture practitioner in London, UK, in 2008 before setting sail on a cruise ship based in Alaska and Sydney and working as the on-board acupuncturist for two years. After this incredible experience, I moved to Cape Town in February 2013 to start a practice and a life here. The results that this simpl
e yet profoundly effective treatment yields are nothing short of extraordinary and it is a constant privilege to bear witness to clients who experience such life-changing results. Techniques I use:
• Acupuncture
• Moxibustion
• Cupping
• Electro-acupucnture
Why people come to see me:
I specialise in extra gentle acupuncture techniques. Who is it for? People in pain:
Pain can be so debilitating and sometimes it can’t be treated, but other times, one or two acupuncture treatments can make an enormous difference to the level of pain one may be experiencing. The best thing to do is try it, it may not be for you – but there again, you may be pleasantly surprised. Stressed lives:
The ability of acupuncture to lower stress levels is astounding. I have had clients who have said after the treatment that they’ve never experienced such deep relaxation from any other therapy. Most people imagine that the needles will be a stress-inducing procedure but in fact, the opposite is true. Research and MRI’s have shown that acupuncture has a profound effect on the nervous system and you will be hard pressed to find a more effective way of reaching such a deeply relaxed state. I practice gentle acupuncture techniques and for the needle shy, I use extra fine Japanese needles which you can hardly feel. If anything, a slight tingling sensation in the area can be felt. Sports injuries:
No other modality promotes self-healing quite as effectively as acupuncture does. The needles, though incredibly fine, encourage the body to “take a look around” the area we work in. We are essentially encouraging white blood cells to gather at and focus on the injured area and heal that area. An adjunct therapy for IVF patients:
It is well known that acupuncture is one of the best methods of promoting a smooth and successful IVF experience. As well as calming the nervous system in what may be the most stressful experience of someone’s life, it also encourages blood flow to the uterus and prepares the body for the procedure. Reference:
