Sad but true

We’ve been saying it forever but now it’s been backed up with research.

A team from the University of Glasgow has conducted a new study that found 90% of leading bloggers from the UK are making weight management claims that are full of inaccurate and untrustworthy information.

Just remember to seek your advice from professionals in their field to help achieve the best results you can.

Amazing!

Short term goals get to the Dream! Please meet Michelle Kakegamic. She’s a breastfeeding mother to triplets. Well done, Mama! 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽 *UPDATE* to include information about Michelle’s cradleboards.

We are Oji-Crees from Muskrat Dam First Nation, Ontario, Canada...a little reserve of 300. I am breastfeeding my 5 month old triplets...It’s been quite the journey exclusively breastfeeding the triplets but I set little goals like 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 1 year. So far I made it to almost 6 months. They will be 6 months on the 26th.

The tikanagans, also known as cradle boards are an important part of our culture as Indigenous peoples. It is often said it mimics being in the womb and makes the babies feel secured. The triplets love being in the tikanagans and moss bags as they are nice and bundled and observing the world around them. The tikanagans are all handcrafted from local people in the community and are often passed down in the families or community. Some of these tikanagans have been around for generations. Many of the tikanagans are made from materials in the community such as the wood for the backboard, moosehide for the material which could include beadwork or embroidery designs. My hope is that I will continue this traditional practice with my triplets and they too, one day, will share with their very own children.

Baking butternut...😍

Butternut can be cooked in many ways.
The most popular method is baking!

It can be as easy as poking holes in the skin and placing it in the oven, BUT if you need to save time on the cooking you can cut it up into smaller pieces (halves, disks or cubes), this requires less cooking time. I usually go for the disks (as seen below), because it is my happy medium. Not as much prep or cooking time required.

Brush the flesh with Olive oil (ideally) and add whatever herbs/spice you like. I love using Origanum while many prefer cinnamon. Play around and find your favorite flavor.

A baked butternut is O, so delicious and packed with Vitamin A, a vitamin that many South Africans lack in their body. It assists in maintaining/ restoring vision and is crucial for pregnant moms to consume adequately for the babies development.

As always; for practicality; I had mine for supper and the next day in a wrap. Work once, reap twice.😉

Without LIFE you cannot enjoy silly moments like these!

On a scale of 0-10, how cute is he?

Some days I go to a local nursery so I can ground myself and clear my mind. 🧘‍♀️

It's a perfect outing for me because I LOVE plants and flowers.🌳🌷🥀🌻🌹🌸🌱 Sometimes I get lucky and have a chat with some birds.🐦

I feel like this photo looks like something I got off the internet, but I'm so happy it's my own😊

Did you know? Patients or clients also have a responsibility, UNLIKE this cat - sunbathing and chillin' like a villain.🦹‍♀️🦹‍♂️

Clients actually have to get their ass-ets off the couch and do what they assigned for themselves to do.📝
Sometimes that will mean to get up and:
- take a walk around the block 🚶‍♂️
- start early on supper so that they have time to pre-pack lunch in between the cooking.🍱
- drink a glass of water before bed🥛
- walk the dog🐶
- sign up for an AA meeting AND attend.🕶
- prepare lunch WITH the kids when they return from school🥙
- so the list goes on ... ...

The point is that as much as the healthcare team🏨 have a responsibility to guide and treat you correctly, you too have the responsibility to care for yourself.🏡
Medication and support can only work if you do your bit.

IF NOT, well, then sooner or later you will get more medication with more side-effects leading to another complication and another medication and before you know it you are like Mary Poppin-dem-pills💊💊 (another fallen actress, such a shame😅) ... 15 at a time😨

So don't be like Mary, care for your body and do your part.😁

O NO😱 ... ... SO TECHNICAL!👩‍🏫👨‍💼

This week I want to reflect on: ⚖️Balancing the diet.🍽
It is more important to know what balance looks like VS obsessing about every nitty-gritty detail (numbers).

What I hope to show with this example is that reality and practicality is very different from a textbooks, thus what balance looks👀 like is better to know than the numbers.😟

SO lets dive in: Lets say you have High-Fibre cereal with milk and a fruit for breakfast and later as a snack another fruit.
For this example I will focus on the fruit.
2-3 fruits per day is generally recommended. But even with this general recommendation comes portion control.
BECAUSE in relation to the diet SIZE DOES MATTER😜

THUS a single portion of banana🍌 is 75g and an apple🍎 115g.
BUT if you look at the weights you will notice they don't match up with this. The banana is weighing 97g (122g - 25g of cereal) and the apple is 95g.
➕➖ ...This means that the banana weighs 22g more than it should and the apple 20g less.
BUT WOULD YOU AGREE that the differences plus-minus BALANCE out?⚖️ ... I sure think so.

100% balance at each meal is practically impossible, but balance across your daily intake is easier to accomplish.🏅

THEREFORE knowing (learning) the basics of a healthy diet can take you much further in life than a diet plan.😊
