Yoga Camps Bay is a co-creative collective of Iyengar inspired teachers, Judy Farah, Gerda Genis and Melanie de Villiers (in training), all sharing their love for Yoga in the heart of Camps Bay.
Judy Farah started Yoga South Africa in the Little Glen and under her mentorship Gerda Genis qualified and Melanie de Villiers, former Vinyasa Yoga teacher, is in training.
Our Yoga shala is located in the most beautiful natural space in the Little Glen, surrounded by mountain and ocean, in the soft shade of trees, deeply peaceful, with the sounds of birds and flowing river.

Iyengar Yoga is a conscious refining and re-balancing of body, mind and soul to enhance stillness within and without, working from the outer layers of the body through the inner layers of the mind, to the most subtle layers of the soul. Precise alignment in asana (posture) allows energy to flow more freely and tunes our body into harmony with our mind and soul.
Rooted in the Krishnamacharya lineage, Iyengar Yoga (so called by its students), was created by our Guru BKS Iyengar to make the ancient Indian practices of Yoga asana (body postures) and pranayama (breathing techniques) more accessible to Western bodies.
It is a form of Hatha Yoga known for its use of props, such as belts, blocks, chairs and blankets to assist
students in performing the asanas (postures) with more ease and correct alignment. Practicing with props ensure greater safety, as it minimises the risk of injury and strain, and makes difficult asanas accessible to all ages and body types.
Iyengar Yoga has therapeutic value and health enhancing benefits gained through the development of strength, flexibility and stability in both body and mind.
