Thula Baby Centre was opened in 2005 and Heather Wood has been the Clinic Sister since it was started. Our team is made up of Heather Wood (Registered Nurse, Midwife and Lactation Consultant) and Natanya Palay (Registered Nurse and Midwife). Thula Baby Centre is a private well baby clinic, offering antenatal classes, lactation support in the clinic, in hospital, as well as after discharge from ho

spital, and care of the newborn baby, mum and dad. We weigh and measure our babies on a regular basis and teach new parents how to care for their new babies. We teach them skills for settling them when they fuss and empower them and educate them with knowledge and skills to parent with confidence. Vaccinations are given, according to the South African EPI (recommended vaccine schedule) using the excellent Government vaccines, as well as private vaccines not available through the state programme. Dads and partners are included and encouraged to come to clinic visits, and other pertinent issues like expressing, back to work, sleeping trouble, routine and starting solids are covered in consultations. We run by appointment only which can be booked on our online booking system or over the phone. Breastfeeding issues are prioritised and are always managed to be addressed, despite us looking fully booked.

Meet mimi :
Hello! my name is Mimi Cooper and I’m a Registered Counsellor based in Sea Point. I offer in-person and online sessions. I support people who are navigating life transitions and change. My approach is grounded in mindfulness, and I help you develop practical skills to relate to your emotions more skilfully, reduce overwhelm, and build self-awareness.

I am excited to have a conversation about self-compassion, a factor that has been shown to increase satisfaction and decrease stress in new mums. We’ll create a supportive environment where we can share our experiences and learn a simple tool to help us bring in more self-compassion when we need it most.

A snug swaddle can help your baby feel safe, calm, and sleep more soundly ✨
✔️ Lay blanket in a diamond shape

✔️ Wrap one side across and tuck
✔️ Fold bottom up
✔️ Wrap other side nice & snug
Remember: firm but not tight, and always place baby on their back to sleep 💤

We run monthly new mums’ teas which are hugely popular and we also offer CPR/First aid classes, once a month.
