Every Tuesday and Wednesday I host an ONLINE group mat Pilates class at 08h00. The classes are open to all levels and its a great way to fit in an exercises class without the added pressures of traveling.
All you need is a mat, a small ball, a resistance band, a good internet connection and viola! Off you go to better posture, flexibility, strength and an overall improved sense of well being.

The mindful approach in Pilates is particularly powerful for healing because it integrates physical movement with mental focus and awareness.
Pilates emphasizes synchronizing breath with movement, which helps calm the nervous system and reduce stress. The practice encourages you to pay close attention to subtle sensations in your body which helps you to notice and release unnecessary tension and to recognize your body's limits and signals.
This mindful approach creates a form of moving meditation that can reduce anxiety and stress and support emotional healing alongside physical recovery.

Nothing has to be achieved in one day, Breaking it down and accomplishing the smaller tasks that make the whole is often times the most manageable and rewarding. Through my Pilates journey I have learnt that and that's what keeps me coming back to the studio and keeps me tackling life's situations. Remember, you've got this!

The term “Powerhouse” was created by Joseph Pilates who started the Pilates movement over 50 years ago and in today’s world of science is referred to as the lumbo-pelvic hip complex and is part of the stabilization system. Your Powerhouse is the center of the body which, when strengthened, creates the foundation for all movement (think – your core). Most people hear the word “core” and they immediately associate their core only with abdominal muscles but really your core consists of many more muscles. The Powerhouse muscles start at the bottom of your ribs down to the top of the hip and all the way to the bottom of your pelvis. The six main muscles that create the Powerhouse are the transverse abdominis, diaphragm, rotators, multifidus, quadratus lumborum and the pelvic floor.
Having everything connected gives us the ability to move with strength, stability and dynamic energy. Only when your Powerhouse if fully developed, can you advance into the harder levels of Pilates. It’s with a strong powerhouse where you can progress to a high and consistent fitness level.

Why should men consider Pilates?

Pilates can help men learn to find balance in their workouts.

Generally men tend to overtrain certain joints, regions, and muscles. Due to this overtraining and resultant muscular imbalance, men tend to incur certain frequent injuries.
Pilates, as a system, remedies faulty patterns by balancing the body’s strength and flexibility and optimizing its efficiency. When the body is symmetrically aligned and muscles function efficiently, injuries tend to occur less frequently.
