🥜 Allergy Myths Busted: Eating peanuts is safe if you don’t react immediately.
❌ That’s not true.
Not all allergic reactions happen right away.
Some peanut allergy reactions can be delayed by several hours after eating.
This means symptoms like hives, vomiting, swelling, or breathing problems may only appear later. Waiting for an instant reaction is not a safe way to decide if a food is okay for you.
Assuming you are not allergic just because you felt fine at first can be very dangerous.
💡 Professional Tip: If you suspect a food allergy, avoid that food completely and get tested by a healthcare professional before trying it again.

Allergy Myths Busted: A cow’s milk allergy is the same as lactose intolerance.
❌ That’s not true.
These are two very different problems.
A cow’s milk allergy happens when the body’s immune system reacts to the proteins in milk. This can cause rashes, vomiting, stomach pain, swelling, or even trouble breathing.
Lactose intolerance is not an allergy. It happens when the body cannot digest the sugar in milk properly. This leads to bloating, cramps, gas, or diarrhoea, but it does not involve the immune system.
So one is an allergy and can be serious. The other is a digestive problem.
💡 Professional Tip: If you are not sure which one you have, see a doctor before removing dairy from your diet. The right diagnosis makes a big difference.

🌍 Rare Disease Day – Hereditary Angioedema Awareness.
Hereditary angioedema (HAE) is a rare and serious condition where the body has low levels of a protein that helps control swelling. People with HAE can get sudden and painful swelling in areas like the face, hands, feet, stomach and throat. It affects very few people, and symptoms often go unrecognised for a long time.
This Rare Disease Day, we want to help spread awareness and understanding. Knowing more about conditions like HAE can lead to earlier diagnosis, better care and greater support for those affected.
💡 Pro Tip: If you or someone you know has unexplained swelling that comes and goes, ask a healthcare provider about HAE. Early evaluation and care can make a big difference.
👉 Watch this AFSA video to learn more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnDVuSFVZKs
Let’s stand together to raise awareness and support people living with rare diseases.

HAE (Hereditary Angioedema) is a rare, potentially life-threatening disease, caused by C1 inhibitor deficiency. It is often associated with tissue swelling ...
