Re-launch of Collaborative Day Hospice at Kenilworth Office

We are proud to announce the re-launch of our revitalized collaborative Day Hospice Programme, now hosted at our central office in Kenilworth. This initiative brings together interdisciplinary teams from Constantia, Wynberg, Hout Bay (collectively known as ConWynBay), City Bowl, Liesbeeck, and Mutual, reaffirming our shared commitment to community-based, holistic palliative care.

The official reopening took place on Monday, 23 June 2025, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing development of our day hospice services. The event was attended by our valued patients and staff alike, setting a tone of enthusiasm and renewed purpose.

Our CEO, Dr. Ronita Mahilall, welcomed attendees with inspiring words, highlighting the importance of compassion, collaboration, and patient-centered care.

The programme was formally introduced by our two Palliative Care Managers, who outlined the structure and goals of the renewed initiative. A preview of the dynamic and enriching six-month programme was shared, generating excitement for what lies ahead.

To begin the day with comfort and care, patients were offered coffee prepared to their individual preferences. They were also invited to share their expectations and hopes for this new chapter—reflecting the collaborative spirit that underpins the ethos of Day Hospice.

As part of the day’s activities, patients engaged in a creative and meaningful “Family Tree” exercise, symbolising their life journeys and reinforcing a sense of connection, belonging, and personal growth.

With a shared vision and renewed energy, we look forward to building a thriving, inclusive space that offers care, connection, and healing to all those we serve. We are excited to embark on this journey together, united in purpose and compassion.

St Luke’s is a philosophy, not a place.

Welcome to St Luke’s Combined Hospices.

St Luke’s Combined Hospices provides specialised end of life medical and nursing and psycho-social care known as palliative care, to people with life-limiting illnesses. St Luke’s Combined Hospices cares for patients from all walks of life regardless of ethnic/religious affiliation or ability to pay - no matter how long or short the length of time the patient requires hospice care.

At St Luke’s we focus on providing relief from the symptoms and stress of a life-limiting illness with the goal of improving quality of life for patients and their family.
