*Important Update: New Venue for Saturdayโ€™s Art Exhibition* ๐ŸŽจ

Hi Autism Connect families,

Quick update about our *Young Adults Art Exhibition this Saturday, 10am-12pm*.

*New Venue:*
๐Ÿ“ *Rehoboth Church Hall*
_Blueberry Lane, Strandfontein_

Weโ€™ll share a *live location pin* in this group on Saturday morning to make finding it easy.

*Why the change?*
We were unfortunately unable to secure _3 Bears Educate Main Hall_ due to unexpected venue costs. Rather than pass that cost on or postpone, weโ€™ve moved to Rehoboth Church Hall so our young adults can still have their exhibition as planned.

*What stays the same:*
โœ… *Date & Time:* This Saturday, 10amโ€“12pm
โœ… *Fragrance-free space + quiet break room available*
โœ… *Wheelchair accessible with parking on-site*

We know last-minute changes arenโ€™t ideal, and we appreciate your understanding. Our team will be at the venue on Saturday morning with signs to help anyone who misses this message.

*This is still their moment.* After months of creating, our young adults deserve a packed hall. Letโ€™s show up for them ๐Ÿ’™

Please reply *โ€œSEENโ€* so we know youโ€™ve got the new details.

With gratitude,
_The Autism Connect Team_

*Happy World Book & Copyright Day from Autism Connect!* ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ“–

Today our centre was filled with stories, giggles, and a little bit of magic โœจ

Our very own *Teacher Teressa* transformed into _Whereโ€™s Wally_ โ€” striped shirt, bobble hat and all! ๐Ÿ”ดโšช She took us on an adventure through the pages, reading aloud and reminding us why stories matter.

At Autism Connect, books arenโ€™t just words.
Theyโ€™re safe spaces.
Theyโ€™re ways to explore feelings.
Theyโ€™re doors into new worlds โ€” at your own pace, in your own way.

For our little ones and young adults, a story can mean:
๐Ÿ“– Predictability in the routine of โ€œread โ†’ turn pageโ€
๐Ÿ“– A chance to stim happily to rhythm and rhyme
๐Ÿ“– Building language without pressure
๐Ÿ“– Sharing joy, side by side

Today we celebrated the authors, illustrators, and storytellers who create those doors. And we celebrated every learner who finds comfort, connection, or curiosity inside a book.

Thank you, Teacher Teressa, for bringing Wally โ€” and the wonder โ€” to life today โค๏ธ

Our young adults have been pouring their hearts into something special โœจ

For weeks, the Skills Centre studio has been buzzing โ€” paint on hands, music in the background, and that quiet focus that happens when youโ€™re making something youโ€™re proud of.

Every canvas tells a story. Of courage. Of growth. Of voices finding colour and shape.

Our Young Adult Art Exhibition is almost here, and we would LOVE to see you there!
Come celebrate the artists. Come see the work. Come feel the pride in the room.

Because when our community shows up, our artists shine even brighter ๐ŸŒŸ all welcome!

Details on the poster โ€” save the date!

Early Learning Centre Wrap-Up

What a rich, connected week itโ€™s been in our Early Learning Centre ๐ŸŒฑ

Highlights from this week:
- Quarterly Parent Meetings โ€“ Thank you to everyone who joined us. Those conversations are gold. Your insights, questions, and partnership help us support your children better every single day. If we didnโ€™t get to chat, weโ€™ll reach out next week.
- UCT Occupational Therapy students โ€“ We were so proud to host a group of OT students from UCT this week. They observed, played, and learned alongside our team and your little ones. The children loved the extra friends, and our staff loved sharing what makes Autism Connect so special.
- Daily learning through play โ€“ From sensory exploration to early communication goals, to sharing and turn-taking, your children worked so hard. We saw big smiles, brave tries, and those small โ€œa-haโ€ moments that make our week.

Our classrooms were full of curiosity, giggles, and gentle growth. Thank you for the privilege of being part of your childโ€™s journey.

Wishing you all a calm, connected weekend ๐Ÿ’™

With gratitude,
The Early Learning Centre Team

Yesterday was history in the making ๐Ÿ’™โœจ

On 11 April 2026, we hosted our _first ever_ Autism Connect Autism Awareness Symposium โ€” and our hearts are still full.

What a day. The room was filled with courage, honesty, expertise, and so much hope. Parents, professionals, self-advocates, and allies came together to learn, share, and stand united for awareness, acceptance, and real inclusion ๐ŸŒˆ

We are deeply grateful to the incredible organisations and individuals who collaborated with us to make this day unforgettable:

๐Ÿ’› Karin Dick from _The Sisu Hub_ โ€” thank you for opening our hearts and our minds
๐Ÿ’› Carmen Walker from _AutismSoWhat_ โ€” your voice and lived insight were powerful
๐Ÿ’› Michelle from _Perez Wellness_ โ€” thank you for grounding us in wellness and care
๐Ÿ’› Taswill Welcome from the _Taswill Welcome Foundation_ โ€” your passion is contagious
๐Ÿ’› The Gents from the _Saint Gentlemen Foundation_ โ€” thank you for showing up for our boys and young men
๐Ÿ’› And our very own founder & director of Autism Connect & Nicolette Ripepi Independent Consultancy, Nicolette Ripepi โ€” your vision made this possible

From lived experience to clinical wisdom, from practical strategies to big-picture advocacy โ€” every speaker brought something that will ripple into families and classrooms long after yesterday.

To our staff, volunteers, and every parent who joined us: _thank you_. You turned a symposium into a community. You reminded us that when we gather with purpose, change happens.

This was just the beginning. Autism Awareness Month is in full swing, and weโ€™re more committed than ever to building a world that understands, supports, and celebrates our autistic community ๐Ÿ’ซ

Drop a ๐Ÿ’™ below if you were there or cheering us on from afar!

Dear Autism Connect Families ๐Ÿ’™

Tomorrow is a day close to our hearts โ€” our Autism Awareness Symposium is happening, and we would love for you to be there with us ๐ŸŒŸ

This is more than an event. Itโ€™s a space to learn together, share stories, ask questions, and celebrate the incredible minds and journeys that make up our community. Our speakers bring deep insight, lived experience, and practical wisdom โ€” Iโ€™ve attached the flyer and speaker bios so you can see the powerful line-up we have for you.

We kicked off Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month with such heart on Tuesday, 7th April, when the Autism Connect team led our โ€œHoot4Autismโ€ demonstration. The energy, unity, and love we felt that day reminded us why we do this: because every voice matters, and every step toward understanding changes lives ๐Ÿ’›

Tomorrowโ€™s Symposium continues that momentum. Come join the conversation. Come be encouraged, equipped, and connected. Whether you can stay for the whole morning or pop in for part of it โ€” your presence means the world to us and to the wider message of acceptance weโ€™re building together.

Details are in the attached flyer, and weโ€™d be so honored to see you there. Letโ€™s keep raising awareness, deepening acceptance, and celebrating our amazing kids, young adults, and families as one community ๐ŸŒˆ

With hope and gratitude,
Autism Connect Team
