Most people treat flu and a cold the same, but they’re not the same experience.
A cold usually comes gradually with sneezing, runny nose, mild sore throat, and mild tiredness.
Flu often hits suddenly with fever, chills, body aches, headaches, heavy fatigue, and a cough that can feel deeper in the chest.
⚪ What to do next
Rest, fluids, and correct symptom relief makes a big difference. Come into Symphony Pharmacy in Mitchells Plain and we will guide you on what to take for fever, congestion, cough, sore throat, and what not to mix.
⚪ What helps at home
Hydrate, sleep, eat light meals, use a humidifier or steam for congestion, and do not overuse nasal sprays. Antibiotics do not treat flu unless a doctor suspects a bacterial complication.
⚪ When to go clinic or doctor
If symptoms last longer than a week, fever keeps returning, or the cough becomes severe, get assessed.
⚪ When to go urgent
Trouble breathing, chest tightness, wheezing, severe dehydration, blue lips, confusion, or illness in babies, elderly, pregnant women, or people with asthma requires urgent medical care.
