With little ones at home in Mitchells Plain, accidents can happen quickly. A few simple steps make a big difference:

✅ Keep all medicines locked away – not on counters or in handbags
✅ Store cleaning products and bleach high up, not under the sink
✅ Never pour chemicals into cooldrink bottles
✅ Teach kids not to drink or eat anything unless an adult gives it to them

If your child swallows something they shouldn’t, seek help immediately.

Before you leave Mitchells Plain, make sure your chronic meds are packed.

Quick checklist:

✅ Blood pressure tablets
✅ Diabetes medication and insulin
✅ Heart medication
✅ Asthma pumps / inhalers
✅ ARVs and other chronic meds

Try to keep your medicine in your hand luggage, not in the boot or in checked-in bags, especially in the heat.

It’s okay to ask for help. Talk to someone you trust, and if you’re on treatment for anxiety, depression or sleep, please don’t stop your meds suddenly without speaking to a doctor.

Each time you burn, it adds up to more damage over the years – dryness, dark marks and a higher risk of skin problems later on.

Simple rules for summer in Cape Town:
• Use SPF 30 or 50 every day in the sun
• Reapply every 2 hours and after swimming
• Don’t forget ears, neck, shoulders and nose

That means you can burn faster than usual, even if you normally don’t.

If you’ve started a new medicine and you’re spending time outdoors, ask us:
