Did you know that you breathe with more than just your 🫁 lungs?
In fact proper breathing has a lot more to do with how the “canister” is functioning that sits just below your lungs. The “canister” is made up of the diaphragm, pelvic floor muscles, abdominal muscles and the back.
When we take a breath in the diaphragm and the pelvic floor should move downward in unison like a hammock. And the abdominal muscles should gently expand outward.
The nerves for the diaphragm come from the neck (C3-C5) and the some of the intercostal nerves. The nerves for the pelvic floor come from the lower back.
Are you starting to see how interconnected our bodies are ? 🤩
If the nerves of the neck and lower back aren’t happy, do you think breathing will be as effective as it should be? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below 👇🏼
