Not all foot strikes are created equal 👣

Heel strike.
Midfoot strike.
Forefoot strike.

While each has its place, a midfoot strike tends to distribute load more efficiently, reduce braking forces, and improve running economy for most runners.

Less overstriding.
Better force absorption.
Smoother transition through stance.

If you want to run faster, longer, and with fewer injuries — master the A-Skip.

The A-Skip is a running drill that improves:
✅ Knee drive
✅ Ankle stiffness
✅ Midfoot landing under your hips
✅ Running economy
✅ Glute & hip flexor coordination

Why does this matter?

Overstriding = braking forces = higher load on knees, hips & shins.
Better mechanics = less wasted energy over every single stride.

And over 10km, 21km, or 42.2km… that adds up.

How to do it:
1️⃣ Drive knee up to hip height
2️⃣ Toes up (dorsiflexed)
3️⃣ Strike the ground under your body
4️⃣ Stay tall through your torso
5️⃣ Keep rhythm — don’t rush it

Add 2–3 x 20m before speed or tempo runs to switch your mechanics on.

Small drill. Big carryover.

Patellar tendinopathy

Patellar tendinopathy (a.k.a. jumper’s knee) is an overuse injury where the tendon connecting your kneecap to your shin becomes irritated from repeated loading. It usually shows up as sharp or nagging pain at the bottom of the kneecap, especially during jumping, squatting, running, or going downstairs.

It’s not an “inflammation problem” — it’s a load-management problem. The tendon becomes stressed faster than it can adapt.
The fix? Progressive loading: strengthening the tendon step-by-step with isometrics, slow heavy work, and later, plyometrics.
