Moments like these highlight the vibrant creativity within our communities and the many ways residents continue to express, inspire and connect.

Life at Bridgewater Manor is shaped by the stories of the people who call it home.

Spending time with our residents is always a highlight for our team, and we make a conscious effort to connect with them, learning more about their experiences, their passions, and what makes life at Faircape Life truly meaningful.

This month, we had the pleasure of sitting down with the Coetzees, who recently made Bridgewater Manor their home. With a shared love for gardening, they’ve embraced the estate’s natural beauty and found joy in creating a space that reflects their passion for the outdoors.
Their story is one of new beginnings, connection, and finding a place to truly feel at home.

We’re pleased to welcome Rene Swart to the Bridgewater team.

Rene Swart joined Faircape in November 2025 as the Estate Manager for Heritage and Bridgewater Manors in Somerset West. She has extensive experience in Facilities Management, having spent most of her career in the field.

Her previous roles include Director of Operations at St Stithians College in Johannesburg for 14 years and St Alban’s College in Pretoria for 2 years. During this time, she managed major building projects, facilities operations, maintenance, grounds, security, events, waste management and renovations. Rene also launched the first Schools Facilities Conference for facilities managers across Southern Africa, which proved highly successful.

Rene has two sons: Luke (30), who lives in Stellenbosch with his wife Amy, and Christopher (21), who is in his third year at Stellenbosch University studying Wood Science. She lives in Gordon’s Bay and was originally born in Mhangura, Zimbabwe.

She enjoys staying active and now spends much of her time walking, photography, scrapbooking, reading, travelling and enjoying the outdoors. Rene is also passionate about environmental sustainability, having won the ISASA Visitorship Award for her greening initiatives at St Stithians, which led to study visits to schools in the UK and USA and speaking at an international university conference.

Retirement is about living with intention, independence, and connection, not slowing down.

As expectations around health, longevity, and lifestyle evolve, so too must the way we think about retirement living.

Today’s retirees are active, engaged, and looking for more than just security. They want community, flexibility, and a quality of life that continues to grow with them.

At Faircape Life, we believe retirement should enable you to live fully - maintaining your independence while being part of something bigger.

It’s time to rethink what retirement can be.

A day well spent in good company 🦒

Moments like these are a reminder that later living is not just about where you live, but about the community you share it with. From outings and shared experiences to everyday connections, these moments are what make village life so special.

At Faircape Life, we believe that community, belonging and meaningful experiences are at the heart of living well.

Today, we pause to reflect on the rights and freedoms that shape our shared journey.

The right to dignity.
The right to equality.
The right to be heard.

Human Rights Day is a gentle reminder that every person’s story matters and that kindness, respect and understanding form the foundation of strong communities.

At Faircape Life, we are grateful to be part of a community where care, inclusion and dignity are lived each day.

Happy Human Rights Day. May we continue to honour one another with compassion and respect.

We are pleased to share that the final tranche of beneficial insects has now been released across all identified areas at Tokai Estate. These natural biocontrol agents play an important role in supporting the health of our beautiful trees, particularly our resilient Celtis africana and Celtis sinensis.

At Faircape Life, we prioritise environmentally responsible horticulture. By using biological controls and beneficial insects, we work with nature rather than against it. This integrated pest management approach reduces reliance on harsh chemicals, protects surrounding plant life and supports the broader ecosystem, including pollinators and birdlife.

As always, our commitment is to ensure our gardens remain healthy, vibrant and enjoyable for all residents, while caring thoughtfully for the environment we share. 🌳
