March is Intellectual Disability Awareness Month (IDAM), and Cape Mental Health is once again highlighting the rights, safety, and inclusion of young people with intellectual disability. This year, the focus is on protecting young people from violence, abuse, and neglect. Cape Mental Health’s 2026 campaign is themed: “Blow the whistle to protect and end violence against people with intellectual disability.”

VACANCY: PSYCHOSOCIAL REHABILITATION WORKER
Fountain House (SA)
(1 Full-time position, 40 hours per week)

Cape Mental Health is a non-profit organisation providing comprehensive mental health services in the Western Cape. One of its projects, Fountain House SA, is a psychosocial rehabilitation (PSR) programme that works with adults with psychosocial (psychiatric) disabilities.
Fountain House SA seeks to appoint a Rehabilitation Worker to support the vocational day programme based in Observatory. The successful candidate must be passionate about mental health, believe in the potential of persons with psychosocial disabilities, and be committed to supporting their recovery journey. The position includes both remote support and on-site programme activities.
Main Responsibilities:
• Facilitate individual and group sessions, including case management
• Coordinate and implement the work-ordered PSR day programme and work unit activities
• Provide support and oversight at the Group Home
• Assist with work readiness preparation, job coaching, and placement support
• Manage referrals and orientation to the service
• Perform reporting and administrative duties
• Assist with fundraising and event coordination
• Work collaboratively within the PSR team and undertake additional duties as required
Requirements:
• Registered Social Auxiliary Worker or Occupational Therapy Technician
• Valid manual Code B (formerly Code 8) driver’s licence
• Fluency in English and Afrikaans or isiXhosa
• Experience in work rehabilitation, supported employment, or psychosocial rehabilitation (advantageous)
• Strong group facilitation skills
• Basic computer literacy (MS Office) and administrative skills
• Excellent organisational and planning abilities
• Ability to work effectively within a team

VACANCY: Events Coordinator
Cape Mental Health is a non-profit organisation based in Observatory, Cape Town, that offers a comprehensive mental health service in the Western Cape. The organisation invites applications from highly motivated and dynamic events coordinator with an excellent track record to join our Donor Development team in a senior-level 12-month contract for a 40-hour week. Preference will be given to South African citizens.

Reporting to: Donor Development Manager

Key Responsibilities
• Event Planning and Logistics
• Conceptualise, plan, and execute fundraising and awareness online and in-person events
• Identify and manage venues, suppliers, and service providers
• Obtain and manage city, safety, and event permits
• Develop and manage detailed event timelines
• Oversee on-site event coordination and operations
• Fundraising and Sponsorship
• Prospecting and researching new event donors and sponsors
• Preparing sponsorship proposals and funding pitches
• Manage donor and sponsor relationships before, during, and after events
• Track sponsorship contributions and ensure agreed deliverables and ROI are met
• Marketing and Promotion
• Develop event-related promotional materials
• Coordinate digital marketing campaigns, including social media and email marketing
• Support brand visibility and public awareness through events
• Budget Management
• Prepare and manage event budgets
• Request and compare supplier quotes
• Track expenses, process invoices, and ensure compliance with allocated budgets
• Post-Event Reporting and Analysis
• Monitoring and Evaluation processes
• Collect feedback from stakeholders, and participants
• Analyse event outcomes against objectives and budgets
• Compile post-event reports and recommendations for improvement

Required Skills & Experience
• 3–5 years’ proven experience in event planning and coordination
• Strong organisational, planning, and time-management skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and networking abilities
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Strong negotiating, coordination and management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, event planning tools, and design platforms such as Canva
• Ability and willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, as required
• Proven ability to deliver against financial targets and strategic objectives
• Valid South African manual driver’s licence (Code B)
