The news is not here for your good health. Your heart and mind need kindness, space to run wild, safety and support. When it all gets a little too much, try a cold shower, a peaceful bath, a drink of ice water and leave the car at home. Hit the road on foot. Look up and all around you and you’re sure to see the birds still fluttering on about their day with purpose and peace, as though that’s all that mattered. Because it is.

A good doctor notices the small things: the pause before you answer, the worry in your voice, the tiredness behind a smile. These quiet details often tell a bigger story than any checklist can.

Human connection is medicine. Feeling heard can soften anxiety, build trust and remind us that we’re not navigating our health alone.

Because while medicine is science, healing is still wonderfully and reassuringly human.

Do you struggle to fall asleep or have interrupted sleep? Does your heart flutter a little too fast? Are you a little too “fight or flight” for your own wellbeing?

A lot of your troubles could be related to that mug of coffee that you reach for throughout the day. Caffeine is a stimulant. And for some of us, especially in busy seasons of life, our nervous systems simply need less stimulation and more steadiness.

Cutting down (or taking a break) from coffee can feel surprisingly emotional. Headaches may visit. Energy may dip. You may miss the ritual. This is normal and temporary. It’s your body recalibrating.

If you’re considering easing off caffeine, try:

☕ Reducing gradually rather than stopping suddenly
đŸ«– Swapping one cup for rooibos or herbal tea
💩 Drinking more water than you think you need
😮 Prioritising sleep while your body adjusts
đŸŒ· Being kind to yourself in the process

Within a week or two, many people notice more stable energy, calmer mornings, deeper sleep, fewer palpitations and less anxiety.

If you’re unsure whether caffeine is affecting your sleep, anxiety, hormones, or heart rhythm, let’s chat. Your health is wonderfully individual and your plan should be too.

With care,
Dr Chanda Lombard

It’s important to know what’s happening beneath the surface. Your heart, your blood pressure, your quiet little cells doing their daily work need attention too.

Book your health screening with me and let’s check in on your inner world. 💛

Somtimes all you need is to hit the wide open road, and feel the joy of connecting with your place in the world, and the freedom of going wherever you please.

But sometimes even a holiday can give us anxiety. The fear of driving, of what-ifs, of going somewhere new, of breaking routine and leaving your comforts at home. If you’re struggling with anxiety, a visit to the GP can help ensure there are no underlying issues making matters worse, such as hormonal changes or poor gut health.

Reclaim your sense of calm and you’ll be better able to find calm all around you đŸ•Šïž

In a world that takes itself very seriously, laughter is a quiet act of self-care. A good giggle releases feel-good hormones, lowers stress, and relaxes the body. Laughter helps us breathe deeper, soften tension, and reconnect with joy, often exactly when we need it most. It boosts resilience, strengthens connection, and reminds the nervous system that it’s safe to relax. — Dr Chanda Lombard, Cape Town

Let’s Reset! 🌞

If your body feels frazzled, your sleep feels slippery, or your mind won’t switch off, it might not be you. It might be your screen habits asking for a gentle reset.

Too much screen time doesn’t just steal your hours. It quietly borrows from your sleep, your focus, your mood, and even your posture.

Our nervous systems were designed for daylight, movement, conversation and rest — not endless glowing rectangles.

The good news is that your body is wonderfully forgiving. A little less scrolling, a little more blinking, stretching, walking, sleeping, and suddenly the fog lifts.

I can help you find balance again and ensure that you have no underlying health problems.

Your phone can wait.
Your health shouldn’t. 💛

Sleep is a little like a shy cat — the more you chase it, the more it slips away. One late coffee, one racing thought, one glowing screen
and suddenly it’s 2am and your brain is on a journey through time and can’t be reeled in. đŸŸ

That’s where a good GP comes in.

I believe that understanding sleep is about understanding *you*. Your stress, your hormones, your habits, your health history, even that “just one more scroll” before bed. If you’re struggling, I can help untangle what’s stealing your rest, rule out underlying issues, and help you build sleep that feels natural again.

Because sleep isn’t a luxury.
It’s medicine, and sometimes, it starts with a conversation. 🍃

Health isn’t made in the doctor’s room. It’s made day by day, as you walk through life, nourishing your body, breathing fresh air into your lungs, putting your limbs to work, and connecting with the trees and waves. The sun is shining in Cape Town and inviting us to get out into nature and honour our bodies, minds and spirits. Happy trekking! 🌳
