Clarity and Confidence: Melasma Therapy .

Melasma looks like blotchy, brown facial pigmentation that can affect your quality of life.

My Top Tips?

1. Avoid the sun and apply a teaspoon of tinted SPF 50 to your face twice daily, year round, even in this winter rain! If you’re not doing this step, the next steps don’t count.
2. Home regimes may include a combination of hydroquinone, retinoid and topical corticosteroids for short periods (a serious prescription that is effective but may have side effects), cycled with other non-hydroquinone pigment blockers (non-prescription cosmeceuticals).
3. Oral tranexamic acid (prescription) for select patients.
4. In-office facials incorporating low strength, pigment specific chemical peels and in expert hands, a combination of nano-needling and lasers.

Xanthelasma are yellow, cholesterol-filled growths that usually appear on the inner aspect of the eyelids and tend to be associated with high internal (blood) cholesterol levels.

I treated this eyelid lesion with laser therapy and managed her hypercholesterolemia. In some patients, cholesterol/lipid lowering therapy with medication may even induce regression of xanthelasma.

If you have noticed a growth on your face, it’s important to see your doctor, the problem may be more than skin deep!

Red birthmarks can be treated with vascular lasers.

These common, benign capillary vascular malformations often resolve in childhood but some can persist.

This beautiful young woman didn’t even realize we could treat the redness on her forehead that she’s had since birth and is thrilled with the results!

Red birthmarks can be treated with vascular lasers.

Colloquially, they are known as angel kisses on the face or stork bites if found on the nape of neck. This common, benign capillary vascular malformation is a naevus simplex that often resolves in childhood but can persist.

When you press on them, their colour tends to fade and they become more noticeable in heat or if one becomes emotional.

This patient didn’t even realize we could treat the redness on her forehead and is thrilled with the results. She looks beautiful!
