Daniel Rabinowitz Clinical Psychologist

Daniel Rabinowitz Clinical Psychologist Are there problems in any area of your life? Do you feel that you are not living up to your own potential? A psychologist can help.

WHY SHOULD YOU CONSULT A CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST? You would consult a clinical psychologist if you feel that there are problems in any area of your life, or if you feel that
you are not living up to your own potential. EMOTIONAL WELLBEING AND DEVELOPMENT
Sometimes problems are just too overwhelming to handle on your own. The purpose of consulting a psychologist is to have someone who listens to you attentively. This does not mean that you are weak. Imagine blaming someone for going to a doctor to set a broken leg! The psychologist uses his/her knowledge of theory of personality, psychotherapy, and counselling to help you to improve your cognitive (or thinking) and emotional wellbeing. By collaborating with the psychologist, you may find solutions to your unique problems and circumstances. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
You may want to consult a psychologist to gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of yourself and others. A deeper knowledge of yourself and how you interact with the world around you may increase understanding of your own behaviour. This knowledge and understanding (or insight) allows you to engage with your life, leading to fulfillment. HOPE AND OPTIMISM
Psychology, as a profession, is moving away from being concerned only about disorders and disease. When you consult a psychologist, he/she will also focus on what is right and what is currently working in your life. The psychologist works with you to find the best ways, based on scientific evidence, to increase your hope and optimism in your daily life - be it at work, in your social life, and in your love life. Psychology, like life, is really about finding what works best for you.

Shout-out from the DBT- Linehan Board of Certification Thank you! 🙌

Join us this in celebrating Daniel Rabinowitz, MA, DBT-Linehan Board of Certification, Certified Clinician!

Daniel is the director of the company, Cape Town Psychologists, which consists of registered counsellors, social workers, counselling and clinical psychologists, and a psychiatrist. He is also the director of a non-governmental organisation (NGO) called Kuthetha Nathi or Talk to Us that provides low-cost counselling.

When asked why certification matters, Daniel shared:

“Certification is essential for fostering public trust in providers and ensuring the fidelity of DBT practice... In South Africa, the significant mental health treatment gap underscores the need for properly trained professionals. Certification not only validates expertise but also strengthens connections among DBT practitioners across the country and continent.”

Daniel’s best piece of advice received was: “You can be a psychologist by learning the theory and applying the practice; or you can be a great psychologist by being interested and forming relationships.”

When not practicing his favorite skill, DEAR MAN, you may find Daniel spending time with family or reading science fiction!

Congratulations on certification, Daniel Rabinowitz!
