Your Friend in Need Health information sharing – GALLBLADDER
We have noticed that the number of people who do not have their gallbladders anymore is increasing at an alarming rate.
Some of you, reading this article, may be without a gallbladder already and others may still be wondering if it is a good idea for a gallbladder to be removed.
The main reasons why there are people who may think or be convinced by others that it is a good idea to remove a gallbladder, is the intensity of the pain, fever and chills experienced when gallstones developed in the gallbladder and also a lack of knowledge in terms of how gallstones can be dissolved and prevented.
It is important to first understand why the human body was designed with a gallbladder before this topic can be discussed.
The purpose of the gallbladder is to concentrate and store bile received from the liver, where it is produced continuously.
Bile consists of bile salts, cholesterol and bilirubin as well as other substances. For those who may wonder about it, bilirubin is a waste product linked to the breakdown of old red blood cells. It is important to note that the gallbladder removes water and other substances like bilirubin from the bile to make the bile salts more concentrated.
The concentrated, cleaned up bile is stored in the gallbladder to be available for release into the small intestine. Whenever triggered by a specific hormone signal received from the small intestine, the gallbladder contracts and releases bile.
The function of the concentrated bile salts, released with the bile into the small intestine, is very important. It is required to break down fats in the food that we eat, which in turn is important to assist the body to absorb fat soluble nutrients such as Vitamin A, E, D, K, essential Omegas etc.
If proper absorption of these nutrients is not happening, it can lead to lots of other health issues. Please note that bile also binds with toxins, kills off bad microbes in the small intestine and neutralize acids in the small intestine.
When you still have your gallbladder and do not eat food with fat (preferably healthy fats) and proteins, the gall bladder will not be emptied on a regular basis, and it will create a risk of gall stones and gallbladder inflammation. It is therefore not a surprise that many people, whose gallbladders were removed, tell us that they were on low fat diets for some time before their gallbladders were removed.
Other possible causes of galls stones:
• Spikes in Estrogen that inhibits bile salts, high levels of insulin worsened by frequent eating during the day, liver issues, high cortisol levels, etc.
When a gallbladder is removed, bile flows directly and continuously from the liver into the small intestine (if bile duct is not blocked) and not only when required. This can lead to digestive issues. One of the main reasons for the digestive issues is that concentrated bile salts are not available on demand anymore.
The normal recommendation after removal of gallbladders is to eat a low-fat diet, to eat more regularly during the day and also to add more fiber, that can unfortunately make gas and cramping worse.
As explained earlier, fat in the diet and the breakdown of the fats is important to assist the body to absorb fat soluble nutrients that your body desperately needs to stay / get healthy.
Some of the consequences of a removed gall bladder are: The absence of sufficient concentrated bile salts on demand, digestive issues, anxiety (cortisol), chronic diarrhea, malabsorption of nutrients, etc.
Please note that if pain experienced was caused by a blocked bile duct and not by gallstones, the removal of the gallbladder will not help at all. The pain will remain.
