What Is a Dental Crown?
A dental crown is a custom-made cap that fits over a damaged or weakened tooth. Its goal is to hold the tooth together and protect it from further damage. Crowns are often used when a filling is insufficient to fix the problem.

They can be made of a highly aesthetic full ceramic (no-metal) or porcelain fused to a metal framework for increased strength.
