🌍 Today is International Men’s Day — a moment to honour men’s lives, achievements, and challenges around the world.

This isn’t about competition — it’s about positively celebrating masculinity, health, and community. From raising awareness about men’s mental and physical health to promoting supportive gender relations, today is about building a better future together.

Let’s celebrate masculinity and recognize the men who guide and inspire us — the fathers, mentors, friends, and leaders — and reflect on how we can support one another more deeply.

At a meeting on the 28th of June 2019, the ABCCCP discussed the competencies that had been adopted by the institution when it was formed. This was in answer to the question: What’s so African about the ABCCCP competencies?

ABCCCP Coaching Competence Spotlight: Managing Boundaries

In coaching, boundaries are not barriers, they are the framework that ensures trust, clarity, and effectiveness. The ABCCCP Refined Competencies highlight the critical skill of Managing Coaching Boundaries, reminding us of that excellence in coaching is as much about structure as it is about empathy.

🔹 Coach manages boundaries of time, space, task and relationships.
🔹 Coach ensures clarity of psychological boundaries towards an effective coaching relationship and outcomes.
🔹 Coach manages their own ethical and Capability boundaries

This competence is a call to coaches everywhere:

➡️ To hold space responsibly.
➡️ To balance care with clarity.
➡️ To deliver outcomes without compromising ethics.

What are your thoughts on this coaching competence?

Stay tuned, as we’ll be sharing all 10 ABCCCP competences daily!

🌱 Leadership begins with awareness.

In a world facing constant change — from climate to economy — true leadership is not about control, but connection. Coaching Psychology helps leaders see beyond the noise, connect with themselves, and lead with empathy and clarity.

🖤 Calling All Coaches, Consultants and Leaders to Join us on 25 Nov at 6pm CAT!

Many times, as African coaches we spend a lot of time teaching, talking, conversing with the world about what it means to be an African coach, but it seems rarely does it happen that we talk with each other.

So, in this session as African coaches we are having a chat as brothers and sisters about what it means to be an African coach amongst ourselves. We might have people joining us, but the conversation is pretty much about us as African coaches. So, feel free to join us and contribute into the conversation.

▪️ What does it feel like or how is it working for you being an African coach?
▪️ What skills do you need?
▪️ What wisdom do we hold that the world hasn’t heard yet?

We’d love for you to join the conversation and contribute your voice.

Men account for 80% of suicides in South Africa. Su***de rates remain alarmingly high, with South Africa recording about 23.5 suicides per 100,000 people, among the highest in Africa.

Who do men speak to about their challenges? Therapists? Friends? Spouses? Siblings?

Most men are lonely in social relationships, according to another survey.
