NuEyes South Africa was born out of the exploration and investigation for a visual device that could potentially aid a low-vision patient after Sir Nicholas himself experienced visual problems caused by an unknown source.
For someone who had been a high definition vision optometrist for 40 years, it was a strange new world to venture into but an opportunity for Nicholas and Jeanne to set out to find a solution for him to be able to see again. After seeing (literally and figuratively) how well the NuEyes Pro electronic smart glasses worked for him, the process started of being able to be a distributor of NuEyes devices in South Africa.
As well as being able to possibly help other low-vision patients who had been told by ophthalmologists’ that there was nothing else that could be done for them. That is how the marriage of Sir Nicholas Rose Optometrist, NuEyes Smart Glasses South Africa and NuEyes USA came to be.
With the advent of NuEyes electronic smart glasses, patients with ocular pathology that might be legally blind with normal spectacles, are given a chance of seeing again.
They are essentially hands free wearable technology, with a camera and screens to manipulate images so that a patient is able to have improved vision.
The glasses use their built-in micro-computing power, together with their image processing algorithms to enhance vision.
Illumination, magnification, contrast, focus, exposure are all manipulated to enhance vision.
Conditions that can potentially be addressed:
