Botulinum wrinkle treatment & Fillers
Cosmetic Uses of Botulinum Toxin.
-Doctors have been using Botulinum for years to successfully treat wrinkles and facial creases. Botox is a brand name of a toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. How Does it Work?
-It blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles and the result is that the injected muscle can't contract and thereby makes wrinkles relax and soften. These injections are most often used on forehead lines, crow's feet and frown lines.
-How is a Procedure performed? It is injected with a very thin needle that causes minimal discomfort and the procedure lasts less than 15 minutes. Moreover, Dr van Loggerenberg applies a skin numbing, local anaesthetic to make the injection almost painless. After an injection it takes 7 to 14 days to take effect.
-How Long Does an Injection Last? The effects will last three to six months depending on the quality of the product and the expertise of the doctor. How Do Fillers Work?
-The fillers used by Dr van Loggerenberg is a naturally occurring substance already present in our tissues called Hyaluronic acid. It absorbs water and acts like an inflated cushion to support facial structures and tissues that may have lost volume due to normal ageing. It also brings water to the surface of the skin to keep it looking fresh and supple. Fillers can treat shallow areas, such as fine lines above the lips; deeper folds, like those around the nose as well as the so-called marionette lines which are creases that run downward from the corners of the mouth.
-How are Fillers Applied? Fillers are injected with a very fine needle into the treatment area and the procedure takes less than 20 minutes. Once again Dr van Loggerenberg applies a local anaesthetic to numb the area and even the filler solution contains local anaesthetic to make the procedure as comfortable as possible. A unique advantage of fillers is that the results are almost immediately visible. How Long Do Fillers Last? The effects remain visible anywhere from four months to a year, depending on the area treated. Another great feature of hyaluronic acid fillers is that the procedure can be reversed if you don't like your results.
-Who Should Administer Botox or fillers Injections? Only Doctors or Dentists are legally allowed to inject these products, as they are trained to do so without damaging the delicate veins and nerves that surround the injection sites.
