We may all agree that living in the present makes sense, but the truth is that we’re only willing to have selective presence.

We’re willing to be present at certain times—during a favorite show or a yoga class, or even during the mundane task we’ve chosen to elevate—but we still want to be distracted when we choose to be distracted.

We spend time at work dreaming about going on a beach vacation, but then, on the beach, long-awaited drink in hand, we’re annoyed to find that we can’t stop thinking about work.

These two scenarios are connected. A desired distraction at work bleeds into unwanted distraction on vacation. Distraction at lunch bleeds into the afternoon. We are training our minds to be where we physically aren’t. If you allow yourself to daydream, you will always be distracted. Being present is the only way to live a truly rich and full life.

There are two lies some of us hear when we’re growing up. The first is “You’ll never amount to anything.” The second is “You can be anything you want to be.” The truth is—

I‘ve always been prone to sensory overload, but ever since lockdown, my need for quiet solitude with a warm beverage, inspired reading material, and calm feminine surroundings has become evermore essential. Has anyone else experienced this? I’ve often wondered whether cocooning myself in this way is healthy. However, was alternative (enduring the chaos’s of precovid life) any healthier? I don’t believe that over 5 months of stillness we’ve become intolerant to the fast pace of reality, but rather, that the stillness we’ve experienced has allowed us to attune to our known inner knowing of what it is that we’re needing it and when we’re needing it. And, most importantly, to honour it by allowing ourselves to have it.

I hope you’re all listening to, and honoring whatever it is that you’re needing this weekend. Whether it be connection or solitude, work or play. Let me know what you’re getting up to below👇🏼

As children we’re not often equipped to handle life’s challenges, and as a result, unresolved issues can remain dormant and trapped in the subconscious. Processing these experiences gently in adulthood enables us to offer support to our younger selves, in a way we needed but didn’t receive it as a child.

It’s day 8 of our 20 day meditation challenge, and today we’ve done just that — a powerful inner child visualisation which included visiting our younger selves and meeting them where they were for an exchange of shared wisdom, love and support. We’ve still got 12 days of the challenge to go, so if you’re keen to try out this mindfulness practice pop me a dm and join the circle.

“In the act of criticizing others for failing to live up to higher standards, we ourselves are failing to live up to the highest standards.

In many cases, we’re passing judgment to deflect others’ attention or our own from shortcomings we see in ourselves. “Projection” is the psychological term for our tendency to project onto others emotions or feelings that we don’t wish to deal with ourselves. And projection happens a lot! So, before judging others, pause for a moment and ask:

𝘼𝙢 𝙄 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙖𝙪𝙡𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩 𝙢𝙮𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙢𝙮 𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨? 𝘼𝙢 𝙄 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙮 𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙬𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢? 𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙞𝙛 𝙄’𝙢 𝙙𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙣𝙚𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨, 𝙖𝙢 𝙄 𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙄’𝙢 𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙯𝙞𝙣𝙜?” -

Simple yet so profound ✨ Reflect on what just being means to you. Without any attachment, judgement or analysis. Just simply being. What does living from your highest self look like? What does living in your truth feel like?

“When we fill up our lives and leave ourselves no room to reflect, those distractions become our values by default...

No matter what you THINK your values are, your actions tell the real story. What we do with our spare time shows what we value...” -

——— Try this! Take an audit of your time, media and money. Doing so will spotlight the values that have crept into your life by default. Then reflect on what your values are and whether your choices are in alignment with them.
