What we desire is already within us. For transformation to happen, we need to believe that it starts with us.

We repeat what we don’t repair.

Why do we do this?

🌓 It’s familiar. We may know that it is unhealthy but we repeat these behaviours because it is familiar and we know what to expect, especially in stressful situations. It makes us feel in control of our environment.

🌓 We learned these behaviours as children. Our beliefs, values and coping skills get entrenched in us in childhood because we are dependent on our caregivers and need them for our survival.

🌓We unconsciously think we deserve to suffer. Because we internalise shame and blame our ourselves, our self-worth gets eroded and as a result we believe we deserve emotional pain and suffering.

The truth is we will continue repeating unhealthy patterns unless we heal from the underlying trauma.

The trauma is not our fault but healing is our responsibility.

Avoidance is an attempt to prevent uncomfortable feelings such as fear, shame, anger or sadness.

This avoidance or need to escape can lead to physical and emotional pain and can manifest as:

✨Physical tension and pain in the body
✨Digestive problems
✨Dissociation
✨Addiction
✨Anxiety and depression
✨Relationship conflict

Our attempt to prevent feelings of distress does not erase the distress, it only multiplies it.

And it delays the healing process.

My dear ones, it’s ok to feel your feelings. Remember feeling is healing🧡

Contact me if you would like to explore these feelings in a safe, non-judgemental and compassionate space.

May we all have the courage to face our uncomfortable feelings and use them as an opportunity to grow and let light in🌅

I celebrated by 40th birthday a few days ago (and yes I consciously celebrated my life).

The days leading up to my birthday was a time of deep reflection. I cried a lot. I cried out of sadness, I cried out out of relief, I cried out of grief and I cried out of gratitude.

Although these emotions were completely overwhelming I sat with them and acknowledged them with compassion. Slowly they left and I then celebrated my life even though the vision I had for my life is not the life I’m living now.

Life is a process of becoming, a combination of states we have to go through. Where people fail is that they wish to elect a state and remain in it. This is a kind of death. Anaïs Nin

This quote sums it up beautifully. No change or growth would mean death…and I choose life.

Tasmeena 🌅

A reminder for all of us. I personally struggle with this and only recently understood the impact this has on my life.

It seems simple but if you've been conditioned and modelled to take responsibility for everything and everyone else, it's not that easy to live by.

Go easy and gently 🌅

This is such an impactful quote.🤍
Feeling safe is the first step in the healing process for us as individuals and as a community.

Imagine what kind of environment we can create if we approach every encounter or interaction with a mindset of safety and acceptance.

Never underestimate the positive impact you have on others, even just one person because this creates a ripple effect which will spread and this is what the world needs more of.

We all need to make each other feel safer. We are all in this together.
Let's do this 💪
