Brain fog.
Heavy limbs.
Dizziness.
Sleep that never restored.
Joy that disappeared.
The doctors said stress. Then depression.
She knew both were part of the story but neither was the whole truth
The truth was:
Her body wasn’t broken. It wasn’t failing her.
It was protecting her.
When there has been too much stress, too much overwhelm, too much pushing and too much enduring,
the nervous system shuts things down to preserve what’s left.
This is not weakness but body wisdom.
So many women live here for years, in deep fatigue.
Or coping and crashing.
Or just tired of a life lived in survival mode.
Here’s what I want you to know:
Your body is not the enemy.
It is the messenger and an invitation into a different way of being.

Do You Know This Person?
As a child she always felt different. Like others understood rules that never quite made sense to her and she knew things they didn't.
She felt deeply and her emotion was too real & untamed.
So she learned to swallow it. To be good. To behave.
To fit in.
No matter how hard she tried, she never quite felt like she belonged. She never felt enough and ever fully at home in herself.
And yet… another part of her never wanted to fit into the boxes.
Because every time she tried, something inside her died.
Do you know her?
Can you feel her in you?
She looked calm. Capable. Responsible.
The one others leaned on. The “good girl”.
Inside, her mind never stopped. She was always thinking and always worrying.
The world felt like too much and she felt inadequate in the face of it all.
She craved connection… but didn’t trust people.
With a big heart and thin skin. So she kept her distance while
longing for more.
People thought she had it all together because on the outside that’s what they saw.
But underneath that thin veneer it often felt like she was falling apart.
And she was exhausted.

No overthinking. What comes up up for you when you ask this question?
You don't need the right or perfect answer and you may be surprised by what comes up if you just allow yourself to connect and listen to your truth.
If you don't ask you don't receive. So the first step is to get clear on what you wish for.
I’ll start: I wish for more spaciousness around my work so that I can have more time for play and connection.

There was a time when I could barely get off the couch. I was burnt out, depleted and chronically exhausted.
Before that? I was cycling regularly, running, playing competitive squash, building my therapy practice, partying hard… always pushing, striving for perfection and needing to be in control of it all.
Yesterday, I completed a 10km race with a friend (with some walking and talking too!). In 2023, I finished a 4-day hike — happily arriving last at camp each day, having soaked in the scenery and the deep conversations.
What’s changed?
BALANCE
I’ve stopped tying my worth to constant achievement. My goals now are simple, pleasurable, sustainable.
And today, on the Equinox, day and night are perfectly balanced. A reminder of how much we need both:
- Masculine (yang): action, productivity, control. knowing
- Feminine (yin): intuition, emotions, rest, surrender
Our society glorifies the masculine and neglects the feminine — and burnout is the cost.
This Equinox, pause and ask yourself:
-How much feminine energy is in my life?
- What’s my relationship with rest, emotions, creativity, and surrender?
- Can I ground myself, even for a moment, and let the earth hold me? How does that feel?
Because balance isn’t just seasonal. It’s essential.

I’ve had a profound journey, which continues still, from being deeply disconnected to finally experiencing the joy of expressing my truth and standing in my power. This has taken me through the depths of depression, the angst of worry and anxiety and the obstacles of Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome.
Even becoming a psychologist was an attempt to be in control and to feel safe. Eventually, through a number of circumstances I was forced to face the fact that I cannot control my life through intellectually constructed coping mechanisms, disconnecting defences and various distractions.
In 2017 I reached a turning point in truly letting go - deconstructing the false self I had very carefully put together as a child. I had slowly begun to dissect this as a young adult and continued over the years. However, in 2017 the ‘powers that be’ obviously decided I was ready and everything came to a head to ensure I took the big step of really letting go.
Stepping from what is known but not necessarily beneficial into the unknown (which is usually in our greatest and highest good) is very scary. I doubted myself, retreated, licked my wounds and started over again. Out of this developed a new direction for my life and my work. I knew that it was time to share what I know and what I have learned with others despite the little inner voice that sometimes pulls at my sleeve and whispers “who do you think you are to do this?!”
Now I stand in a place of joy, passion and purpose and I have created this space to be of service to you while being in service to my truth and continued journey of growth.
