The first light breaks over Spekboomberg, and with it… new life begins. 🌅🐑

The Merino ewes have started lambing — a quiet miracle unfolding across the veld. Each step through the camps tells a story… a ewe standing protectively over her newborn, the soft call of lambs finding their mothers, the rhythm of life continuing as it always has.

This is the season where sleep becomes scarce, days stretch long, and every moment counts. It’s a busy time — but it’s the kind of busy that reminds you why you do this. Generations of genetics, years of planning, all coming together in these small, fragile beginnings.

There’s something humbling about it… standing in the middle of it all, knowing you’re part of something bigger. Not just farming — but stewardship, legacy, and life itself.

The season has begun. 💛

After weeks of watching the sky and trusting in His timing, the rain finally came. 🌧️
Thank you, Lord, for this beautiful blessing over our land, our animals, and our people. Every drop is life. Every drop is hope.
The fields will turn green again, the dams will fill, and our flocks will grow stronger. It reminds us that even in the dry seasons, God never forgets His people.
We are grateful, we are humbled, and we are reminded once again that the better days always follow the hard ones.
“Let us be glad and rejoice in His salvation.” 🙏

Looking back on 2025 on the farm 🌾
As this year comes to an end, I can’t help but pause and reflect on the last 12 months here on the farm. 2025 was a good year — not because it was easy, but because it was real.
There were ups and downs. Days of dust and days of rain. Wins that made us grateful, and setbacks that tested our patience, faith, and character. Farming has a way of humbling you — reminding you daily that you don’t control everything, but you are responsible for how you show up.
I’m thankful for my family, who walk this road with me, for our workers, who give their best even when conditions are tough, and for the land that continues to teach us lessons no book ever could. We learned, adapted, worked harder, and grew — not only in numbers, but in wisdom.
Above all, I’m grateful to God for His provision through every season. For strength on hard days, clarity in tough decisions, and hope when the future felt uncertain.
Here’s to 2025 — a year that shaped us.
And to 2026, with open hands, strong hearts, and faith in what lies ahead. 🙏
