This is what works for me. You do not have to copy it. But I hope it inspires you to find a healthy-ish rhythm that works for you and your body.

A few things I want to add because context matters.

Please do not become complacent and convince yourself a bad habit is a good one. Skipping breakfast because you overdid dinner the night before is not a fast. It is just skipping breakfast. However, if your body genuinely runs better on a later meal, that is completely valid. There is a difference and only you know which one it is.

As someone in her 40s I absolutely believe that protecting your hormones comes first. Having around 5 to 10g of fat in the morning is what settles my body and my mind. It grounds me before anything else.

And my breakfast is not always a protein smoothie. Sometimes it is an omelette with sliced toast. Sometimes Greek yoghurt with berries and seeds. This is just one example of what a Monday can look like for me — because Monday is often when I grab the opportunity to realign. A little reset. A chance to come back to my habits in full.

I know so many of you are feeling it right now. Tired. A little flat. The week started with so much intention and Wednesday has a way of quietly taking the wind out of you. I feel it too. I really do get it.

So here’s what I want to say. If you need a rest day today, take it. A recovery day is not giving up. It is part of the process and it is completely ok. But do it with intention. Rest because your body needs it, not because the couch convinced you. There is a big difference between choosing to rest and quietly slipping.

And if today is your rest day, tomorrow you get back at it. A full body workout. Whatever you need. No guilt, no spiral. Just back to it.

I promise you it is worth pushing through. Friday is so close. And the version of you that finishes this week strong will be so glad you didn’t stop here. 🤍

This has been such a mindset shift for me over the last five years and honestly, it’s probably one of the biggest things that has changed my life.

Simply always believing it will work out has massively brought my anxiety down. It keeps me present. It stops me catastrophising before anything has even happened.

When something goes wrong, instead of spiralling, I come back to: I’ll figure this out. Something will come. This will pass.

Some real examples of what this looks like

Someone cancels on you for something really important. Instead of panicking, you just trust: something will come along, I’ll figure it out as I go.

Your kids are spiralling from their own worries. You remind yourself: this is just something they need to walk through. It will end. They’ll be okay.

A plan falls apart, something doesn’t go the way you hoped you let go of the grip, knowing something else will come.

And the thing I didn’t expect? Being able to offer that calm to the people around me. When a friend, my partner, or my kids hit a hard moment, I can genuinely ground them by saying: “I know this feels really hard right now. And very soon, sooner than it feels, it’ll be over, and you’ll already know what to do.”

That’s a gift you can give someone. That kind of calm is contagious.

Repeat after me:
It will all be ok - I will figure it out or it will figure itself out.

A little glimpse into my Friday to Sunday.

Lots of whole food. Lots of family time. Continuing to move my body with little pockets of strength training, short runs when I can, and paying far more attention to consistency than intensity. Listening to my body instead of fighting it.

Completely enjoying this beautiful city called Cape Town and allowing myself to live a little slower on weekends.

As an entrepreneur, I still work early mornings and often a few hours in the afternoons too, but living here somehow makes it feel easier. There’s always a sunset, a mountain, an ocean view, or an opportunity to step outside — whether it’s in a jacket or a T-shirt.

Her moods and seasons are unpredictable, and somehow that’s exactly what I love most.
