Delmas Pharmacy is an independent retail pharmacy established in 1943 and is still providing a service to the same community after 75 years. It was the only dispensary in Delmas for many years. During the 1950’s Delmas Pharmacy also specialized in veterinary medicine, compounding medicines for the local doctors, rented out 8mm films for home entertainment, sold en repaired jewelry and watches, sol
d fine dinnerware, sold and serviced photographic equipment and stocked French perfumes and cosmetics. Delmas Pharmacy serviced an area stretching for Endicott, Sundra, and Bapsfontein to Ogies. Today the pharmacy still service clients in Delmas and surrounding areas and do daily deliveries to Delmas, Eloff, Rietkol estates and Sundra. Delmas Pharmacy was one of 25 pharmacies nationwide to participate in the Family Circle Primary Pharmaceutical Care Program in 1996. Family Circle designed and implemented a new clinic inside the pharmacy. When Family Circle was disbanded Delmas Pharmacy joined the Pharmanet buying group. Later the pharmacy joined Link Pharmacies and is still a member of Link Pharmacies at present. The premises were revamped from floor to ceiling in 2006. New shop fitting was done by Greg Norris in 2006. Turnover jumped 20% after the new shop fitting. The Delmas Pharmacy clinic are visited daily for blood pressure monitoring, blood glucose screening, blood cholesterol screening, baby vaccinations, wound care and flu vaccinations.
