How to put the sadness and pain I saw this morning in my beautiful sisters CRY of pain in words.. This morning I felt so helpless next to the wound specialist busy cleaning my sister leg, the rawness of the flesh with the skin not healing.

Reaching over to comfort her, with the softest voice I could get out, told her take my hand and squeeze as hard as you need to, telling her "We have to clean your wound " my eyes watering, my sister and mom crying, I have to be strong for them, but my cheeks are getting wet, can't hold the tears back any longer.

Hours later and I'm still in shock, i knew it was bad but to hear my sister scream, broke my heart and i know getting the wound specialist was the correct way, I will do as much as I can, but I need help the cost per session is R650 - R800 depends on medicine he use. If you can help my sister in any way, I'll be so grateful. God bless. I pray for the recovery of my sister, her name is Liezel if you will include her in your prayer.

She struggles to eat, can't walk or even go to the toilet on her own, the family tries our best to be there for her, help her. My sister struggling to eat, is not helping with recovering. With all this water discharging from her legs, caused a horrible wound on her leg. (Picture attached)

With your help, professional help from albert Luthuli sooner, treat her wound clinic to help heal her wound, doctors to help with treatment drips doctor speaks off in report and the medical care she needs now, not wait 30 days for blood test. The Ensure and fresubin food. My sister is referred to Albert Luthuli, appointment is the 30 May 2022.

I come to you with a broken heart in helping my only sister.

She has a mild connective tissue problem called CREST syndrome which caused her symptoms of raynauds (blue fingers), oesophageal dysfunction (difficulty swallowing), telangiectasiae (the red spots on the front of the chest). I prescribed the Plasmoquine for this which takes time to work. For the raynauds, Albert Luthuli Hospital can assist in getting authorisation for a drip called Iloprost for the blue fungers and toes to prevent the raynauds from getting worse.



Her main problem though relates to the operation she had at King Edward on her stomach - this has caused a very low iron level and probably low Vit B12 as well which is causing her weakness, fatigue, fissuring at the corner of the mouth and the leg swelling is also due to malabsorption of essential nutrients and protein due to the stomach surgery. Therefore I wrote a letter for her to have her haemoglobin rechecked at King Edward, and have an iron infusion regularly, and to continue with the protein energy supplements e.g Ensure and Fresubin.

My Sister is 42 and a mom of 4 beautiful kids, her eldest son is married with 2 daughters, with this disease she has no hope of a future with her grandkids, and her youngest daughter 11. Malvern, Durban

She has been treated by King Edward, and with no joy not recovering due to the process is slow in referring to Albert Luthuli, we are coming to you to help us get her the correct treatment and give her a future. I'm not ready to say good bye to my Sister.

Unfortunately, with COVID the last two years we can't go with her to King Edward, they keep doing test but she is not recovering, She is weighing 32 kg from 95kg. We then took her to a specialist.
