This is our story
Fowels Cremations & Burial Services Inc is a family-owned and operated funeral home founded by Tyron and Ashleigh Fowels built not only on professional experience, but on faith, compassion, and personal understanding of loss.
In 2019, after many years of dedicated service at one of the largest funeral homes in the country, Tyron was retrenched. With courage and determination, he invested his savings into establishing Fowels Embalming PTY LTD, providing embalming and repatriation services to families in need.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the company became one of only a few operators permitted to travel across African borders, ensuring that loved ones were safely returned home. This demanding season meant long periods away from his own family, while Ashleigh lovingly cared for their two young sons.
In 2019, they welcomed their son Daniel, who was born with a rare medical condition. Wanting to be more present at home, Tyron and Ashleigh opened the funeral home in September 2020 a step of faith that would change their lives forever.
In October 2020, Daniel was admitted to hospital. After months of fighting alongside their precious boy, Daniel passed away on 1 March 2021. During this heartbreaking time, the family sold nearly everything they owned in their effort to save him. They held on to their faith and to the funeral home believing that God still had a purpose for their lives.
In the midst of grief, they continued to grow. Tyron completed his Diploma in Theology, strengthening his ability to minister to families not only practically, but spiritually. Ashleigh completed her Diploma in Early Childhood Development and now serves as a teacher at an international school, continuing her calling to nurture and guide young lives.
Beyond their work in the funeral profession, Tyron and Ashleigh run a small church in Newlands East, where they provide spiritual leadership, encouragement, and hope to their community. This year, Tyron will be ordained as a full-time pastor, further dedicating his life to serving others.
Together with their son Haiden, who is autistic, they have rebuilt their lives step by step faith as their foundation.
Today, six years later, Fowels Cremations & Burial Services Inc stands as a testimony of resilience, compassion, and unwavering faith. The care they offer families is deeply personal, because they understand loss firsthand.
They do not simply provide a service they walk alongside families in their most difficult moments, offering dignity, guidance, comfort, and heartfelt support.
Their story is one of faith through fire, strength through sorrow, and a commitment to serve others with love
