๐ Book Review: Good Inside by Dr Becky Kennedy
๐งก This book emphasises parenting with empathy and connection as the central themes.
โจ It uses the premise that all children are 'good inside'.
๐ฅRather than punishing behaviours you are probed to question the underlying feeling or reason behind the behaviour. Through addressing the underlying reason you can ultimately develop your relationship with your child, improve their self-regulation abilities, enhance problem solving skills and foster their self-esteem.
๐This approach ultimately results in children who are more empathetic, regulated and resilient.
๐ My wish would be that not only parents, but also teachers shifted their thinking to this approach. Our schools would be happier places for all.
๐ฅIf you are going to only read one book about parenting, I truly feel this should be it. It is such a game changer.
