A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated and supported the Silent March. Your presence helped raise awareness within the broader community, brought autism issues to the municipality's attention and reminded autistic individuals that they are seen, valued and belong.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Durban Public Order Policing and Metro Public Order Policing for ensuring our safety throughout the march; Joint Medical Holdings for ambulance services; Pick 'n Pay La Lucia for their generous contribution of water, fruit and participation; Annusha Dalu for water; Our Lady Fatima School for loan of the loudhailer; Haroon Jamal for printing the flyers and everyone who helped with transport.
A special thank you as well to the AiA Exco and staff, whose tireless efforts in planning and coordinating the event made it all possible. The success of the march is a reflection of your dedication and support.
Together we made a meaningful impact!

The Silent Walk was a resounding success, bringing together autistic individuals, parents and supporters in a powerful show of unity. Marching through the city in silence, participants raised awareness about autism and advocated for the rights and inclusion of autistic people. With a strong police presence ensuring safety, the march proceeded peacefully from Gugu Dlamini Park to City Hall. There, a memorandum of demands was formally handed over to Councillor Khuzwayo, who received it on behalf of the Mayor. This meaningful demonstration highlighted the strength of the autism community and the importance of continued advocacy for acceptance, support and equal rights.

Dear Familia
Today is D day. We will have metro police in their numbers to ensure the march is safe.
Wear your walking shoes and even though it's not hot, wear a hat.
We will have bottles of water available.
You can choose to wear paper tape over your mouth or not but this will make a strong statement.
We will be handing out pamphlets
I hope the marshalls are ready for the march. We have reflective vests available for you.
I look forward to seeing you all.
Power to autistic people and their families.
The march starts at 12noon from Gugu Dlamini Park, outside the workshop and finishes at the City Hall where we will hand over a memorandum to the Mayor. ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
