Topics included types of disabilities, politically correct terminology in the disability sector, disability inclusion and exclusion, ethics and, hazard in the workplace and wheelchair measurement demonstration was conducted

The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) in KwaZulu-Natal recently hosted a District Disability Dialogue Session at Mellowood Community Hall in Ward 28, Shakaskraal, within the KwaDukuza Local Municipality on 5 March 2026.
The session focused on identifying barriers faced by persons with disabilities and exploring opportunities and strategies to strengthen their participation as the Commission prepares for the 2027 Local Government Elections.
APD-KZN Ilembe social workers was part of the programme, supporting information sharing with persons with disabilities. An information desk was set up where APD pamphlets were distributed, and attendees were able to ask questions and receive guidance about available services and support.
The dialogue created an important platform for engagement, ensuring that the voices of persons with disabilities are included in strengthening inclusive democratic participation.
