Sunday Greetings from Adri's Garden đŸŒģ Not all flowers look like our idea or perception of what a flower should look like. A case in point is the flower of this Vriesia bromeliad, also known as flaming sword bromeliad. But it comes with its own unique beauty. So it is with the people in our lives. We are all different and unique, and sometimes people don't fit in with our idea and perception of what they should look like or be like. God has made us all unique, in looks and abilities, and when He was finished, he called us good. Let us let people be, as we all strive to live up to God's image and likeness and His purpose of our lives. May we all have a Blessed Sunday 🙏đŸŧ✝ī¸đŸŒģ

Sunday Greetings from Adri's Home 🏡 The Amaryllis are starting to bloom beautifully. However, one of the stems and blooms emerged damaged from the bulb. It still bravely struggled to bloom. This morning, I found the stem had totally collapsed. I cut the bloom off and put it in a glass of water. Sometimes, we find people struggling, yet bravely trying to carry on with life as best they can. However, their struggles could become too much, and they may collapse. May we notice and stretch out a helping hand, giving them a life-giving drink of waters of hope and encouragement to get them back on their feet. May someone notice when we are in need of the same and help us. Wishing us all a Blessed Sunday 🙏đŸŧ✝ī¸đŸŒģ

Sunday Greetings from Adri's Garden đŸŒģ These are the first spring blooms of the poppy seed I sowed in autumn 😍 The seeds were originally from poppies from my parents' garden. This is a fitting reminder of the two people who sowed so many seeds in my life: their love, faith, morals, values guidance, and, of course, their love for plants and gardening. In turn, I try to follow their example and legacy. May we all remember our parents and everyone else who sowed positively into our lives from childhood and pray for them with love. Wishing you a Blessed Sunday 🙏đŸŊ ✝ī¸ đŸŒģ

Sunday Greetings from Adri's Heart 💖 I took this photo at Castleburn Holiday Resort in the Drakensberg, where we had been on school holiday this past week đŸŒģ I love collecting plants and I love collecting ideas to adapt in my garden. This made me reflect on things we sometimes collect, some good habits to adapt to our own lives to enhance our health, physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. However, sometimes we may also collect bad, even sinful, habits and attitudes that make our health, physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being suffer. Let us take stock of what we are collecting - does it enhance our relationship with God, our loved ones, and others? If it doesn't, let us ask God to help us to get rid of the bad habits and replace them with good habits. Wishing you a Blessed Sunday 🙏đŸŊ✝ī¸đŸ’œ

Sunday Greetings from Adri's Heart 💗 On Friday, Term 3 breaking up day for Spring Holidays, I had the absolute privilege to participate in a toy making workshop for under-resourced ECD Centres. Although the workshop was free with only our time and willingness required, these toys did not go away for free. It went with my heart, my love, and my blessing that the children who will play with them will learn and eventually excel. It made me reflect on how often we really give from our hearts and with our blessing for a person's wellbeing. It also reminds me of the time God took to form us in our mothers' wombs, blessing us, "Go forth my child, learn throughout your life and excel in what matters most - loving Me and others and being a blessing." I wish you a Blessed Sunday ✝ī¸ đŸŒģ

Sunday Greetings from Adri's Heart 💙 This beautiful blue Petrea seems to be inviting a person to come closer and admire its beautiful blue flowers. It grows on the outside wall of a lady who invited me, a virtual stranger, into her home in Johannesburg when both of us were attending the Spiritual Accompaniment Training Course on trauma. The walls around her home protect a beautiful garden and home that she shared with me with hospitality and generosity. It reminds me of Hebrews 13:2, which states, "Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it" (NIV). Today, let us reflect on what beauty, treasure, or surplus lies behind our walls and who we share it with. Who do we share our hospitality and generosity with? Let us start by sharing with our family and relatives and extend our hospitality and generosity outwards to others. Wishing you a Blessed Sunday ✝ī¸ đŸŒģ

Sunday Greetings from Adri's Heart 💓 I was privileged to attend a Spiritual Accompaniment Course on trauma this weekend at the Jesuit Institute in Johannesburg đŸŒģ All the gardens in Johannesburg seem to be exploding with the bright orange of clivias. The gardens at the Jesuit Institute are also a sea of orange. But it was this walkway that I felt captured my soul. I felt as if it was a walkway towards the entryway to heaven where the bright colour lining the passage is welcoming me into heaven. It made me think of other pathways, roads, and even passages we walk in our daily lives. Do we see them as walking with and towards God? Do we invite people to walk with us towards God? Perhaps this is something to contemplate... Wishing you a Blessed Sunday ✝ī¸ đŸŒģ

Today, 10 September, is World Su***de Prevention Day. It calls on us to remember those who have lost hope and taken their own lives, and their families who are left behind. It calls on us to notice warning signs and try and ask someone when we notice something is going on. May those contemplating su***de know that they are not alone, and reach out for help. There is always hope 💕

Sunday Greetings đŸŒģ When one looks at this arrangement in front of the hall at Capuchin Convent, one first notices the beautiful showy pink and white flowers of the begonia. One may dismiss the mother-in-law's tongue as common, some looking a bit tattered. In doing so, one may also miss the dainty pale yellow flowers of the mother-in-law's tongue. Don't we sometimes do the same with people? We notice the outward appearance of people, or only the bubbly extroverts. And often we miss out on getting to know the wisdom and quiet presence of the introverts and what they have to offer. We may also overlook the needs of those whose outward appearance seem tattered because we don't want to stretch out a helping hand. And if we don't look deeper, we may miss the pain an extrovert is hiding underneath the showy bubbly personality. May we make a decision to truly get to know people, and may we meet people who truly want to get to know us, so that we can all be there for each other, as God wants us to be. And let us begin with the people in our homes and families. Wishing you a Blessed Sunday 🙏đŸŊ✝ī¸đŸŒģ

Sunday Greetings from Adri's Garden đŸŒģ This beautiful Alstroemeria Indian Summer (Inca lily/Peruvian lily) has taken over its pot. There is a smaller variegated Alstroemeria peeking out from underneath. We can look at it in two ways: that the bigger plant is protecting the smaller one until it is bigger, or that it may smother the smaller one if I don't move it, as it smothered another plant. We too have to be careful that in our attempt to protect the people we love, that we don't smother them but leave enough space for them to grow strong and stand on their own feet. We also need to allow spaces for ourselves to grow in our spiritual lives, strengthening our faith and smothering out that which hinders our faith. Wishing you a Blessed Sunday ✝ī¸đŸŒģ

Sunday Greetings from Adri's Garden đŸŒģ Oldies but goodies 😊 This is what these shrubs make me think of. The magenta azalea is putting on an early spring show. So does the Brunfelsia, commonly known as Yesterday Today and Tomorrow because of the flowers opening in purple, fading to lilac and aging to white, with the three colours appearing simultaneously on the shrub, and the smell is divine 💜 Sometimes gardeners opt for the new varieties of plants, and that is okay, I do too. But it I do not discard the old stalwarts. In life, we meet many new people, we make new friends and connections. But let's not discard the old family and friends who have seen as through many seasons of our life. They may end up in the background at times, but just remember how much they contribute to who we are today through their support and encouragement and building our faith. Perhaps we can go down memory lane and revisit, and perhaps even visit or call, family and friends whom we have not been in touch with for a while.Wishing you a Blessed Sunday ✝ī¸ 💜đŸĒģ
