Mandela Day 2025 Commemorated at King Dinuzulu Hospital Complex
“It’s in your hands” – 67 Minutes of Service and Solidarity

On 18 July 2025, King Dinuzulu Hospital Complex (KDHC) joined the nation in celebrating Nelson Mandela International Day, honouring the legacy of Madiba through acts of service and kindness.

In a heartwarming display of partnership and compassion, our sister facility, Parklands Private Hospital, chose to spend their 67 minutes at KDHC. Staff from Parklands visited the Medical Outpatients Departments (MOPDs), where they distributed a delightful array of goodies to both patients and visitors. These included assorted sandwiches, cool drinks, chips, cake, and fresh fruit—bringing smiles and appreciation to all who received them.

> “Visitors accompanying patients were equally pleased and touched by the kind gesture,” said one of the nursing staff. “It was a wonderful moment of shared humanity.”

The partnership between KDHC and Parklands Private Hospital continues to grow, and it is our hope that it will gain strength across all areas of our clinical and support services.

Following the MOPD visit, another highlight of the day was a special visit from Snokes, a local organisation that supports the elderly. The organisation extended their generosity by donating bags of new clothes and hampers to the Labour Ward, Nursery, Ward F, and Ward D. These were lovingly distributed to newborn babies and new mothers, many of whom are in need.

> “The donations from Snokes were a blessing to our patients,” shared a midwife. “New mothers were overwhelmed with gratitude.”
