It doesn't matter how big or small the fear is - fear is fear. Children's development comes from feeling safe above everything else, so we always need to be considering how safe they feel at any given time and what is threatening that felt safety.

True learning cannot happen through fear, especially when the adult is the one creating the fear. But learning can happen through connection, and adults can create connection ๐Ÿ’›

Connection can help us move through fear. It won't help a child if we tell them to stop being scared, just like how we wouldn't stop fearing anything if someone told us to do so. But when we connect, we can feel a bit safer and more trusting to move through challenges. Challenges that are beneficial for learning.

Whatever the goal is, children need to feel safe with an adult first ๐Ÿ’›
