Happy New Year!
Let’s get ready for 2025 💪🏼 🧠 🌱 ✔️

“Setting New Year’s resolutions can be a positive way to focus on self-improvement, but it's important to approach them in a manner that promotes good mental health and well-being and maximizes our chances of sticking with them.”

Happy New Year! By now, the hustle and bustle and stress of the holiday season is behind us. You have probably spent weeks shopping, gift-giving, and visiting with friends and family – mostly time spent focusing on everyone else. Now, with the New Year upon us, it is time to focus on you. As we th...

It’s October 10th - World Mental Health day! Let’s spread awareness together and make our mental health a priority.

Take a moment to look after your mental health today, even if it’s a simple affirmation, a quick 5 minute relaxation or guided meditation, a break from the buzz of the day or by just prioritising your self care a little bit more today. Your mind will thank you!

World Mental Health Day
October 10

It is possible for us to not recognise the symptoms of mental illness until they become something more recognisable to us - like physical symptoms (backache, shoulder pain, tummy aches, headaches etc.).

Even in this modern day, there are many stigmas around mental health, or UNhealth should I say, and therefore, the importance of mental health and well-being isn’t a topic of conversation in households. Because of this, many people wait until our bodies display physical symptoms which may alert us that something isn’t right. When we have these physical symptoms, we go to the doctor, question our symptoms, confused as to what may be the problem. Sometimes, the answer isn’t fixing the physical symptom, but taking a deeper look at our mental health and working from there.

The article below sheds light on the signs and symptoms of some mental illness.

Let’s make mental health an open topic - let’s talk more and make it easier for people to get help when they need it.

World Mental Health Day is observed on 10 October every year. This day tries to create awareness about mental health issues. The theme for the World Mental Health Day 2021 is 'mental health in an unequal world.'

This is so true, yet so many feel shame and don’t speak out. It’s so important to make it okay for people to talk about these topics. Be open with friends or family you can trust with your feelings. Seek help, there is always support - “you are not a burden”.

What a trying time it has been for us all during this pandemic. Covid-19 has caused havoc in all our lives to some degree. We have experienced higher levels of anxiety, depression, stress, loss and grief. More than we ever expected to experience.

It’s time to use the resources we have available to us in order to help us cope better.

This article sheds some light on coping with loss and grief during Covid-19.

“We need to give ourselves time and space to mourn."

Many of us are experiencing loss and grief during the pandemic. Emotions like anxiety, anger, or loneliness might be signs of how we’re feeling. We asked Cedars-Sinai chaplain Reverend Pam Lazor why it's important to identify grief and how to cope with a loss. Learn more.
