๐ŸŒŸ QASA Accessible Homes Project ๐ŸŒŸ

Weโ€™re so proud to share the story of Loretta Mead, one of the beneficiaries of QASAโ€™s Accessible Homes Project. ๐Ÿก๐Ÿ’š

Thanks to this project, Loretta and her husband now have a safe, accessible walkway at their home โ€” giving them the freedom to move independently and enjoy their beautiful neighbourhood.

Hereโ€™s what Loretta had to say:
โ€œWe would like to thank you sincerely for the financial help toward a walkway at our home which will make my husband and my lives more independent because of the uneven nature of the property we live at. We could not get out of our granny flat without help to go to the shop or for lovely walks in the beautiful neighborhood we live in. This is truly a life changing event for us.โ€

Stories like Lorettaโ€™s remind us why accessibility matters. ๐Ÿ’š

Thank you to everyone who continues to support QASA in making independence possible for people with disabilities! ๐Ÿ™Œ

On Saturday, we hosted our Annual General Meeting at the Century City Conference Centre. A big thank you to the Conference Centre for accommodating us and for providing with such a beautiful venue and professional service.

We were also very fortunate to have member of provincial parliament and former Western Cape Minister of Health and Wellness Prof Nomafrench Mbombo (PhD) in attendance.

She shared some valuable insights regarding disability empowerment and advocacy within government before graciously discussing some of the concerns raised by our members. Thank you for your time and willingness to engage.

We'd also like to recognise Leigh Scholtz and the Coloplast team for their hard work and commitment to ensuring quality bladder and bowel care in South Africa.

Thank you to QASA Chairman Anton Engelbretch, QASA Treasurer Ari Seirlis and QASA General Manager Ashley Scott.

This past weekend, Sabat Batteries hosted its Zoo Day held at The Johannesburg Zoo.

QASA members were invited to attend, participate in the annual power wheelchair race, and a newly introduced animal dash where participants had to photograph themselves at various enclosures.

A big thank you to SABAT Batteries for a fun-filled day, and for their continued commitment to keeping our members mobile!

For more than two decades, SABAT Batteries have donated batteries to QASA members who use power wheelchairs.
