🌟 QASA Visits Botshabelo District Hospital 🌟

In the late afternoon of the 25th of February 2026, QASA visited Botshabelo District Hospital, situated in a remote community in the Free State where many quadriplegic and paraplegic persons receive very limited ongoing support. Our meeting with the dedicated therapy team was a strong success, highlighting the real need for improved support for quadriplegics and paraplegics in the area.

The therapists welcomed QASA’s involvement and expressed enthusiasm about connecting their patients to QASA for members giving them access to apply for our Assistive Devices, Accessible Homes Project , and other services that can significantly improve mobility, independence, and quality of life.

We are grateful to the Botshabelo therapy team for partnering with QASA and being a link for QASA membership.

🫂 QASA Outreach – Universitas Hospital Visit 🏨

Later on 25 February 2026, QASA had the opportunity to meet with the Physiotherapy Department at Universitas Hospital in Bloemfontein. The session began with the QASA Project Coordinator presenting QASA’s full range of services and projects, which the Physiotherapy team committed to share with their colleagues in the Occupational Therapy Department, who were unable to attend due to other clinical commitments.

The Universitas team expressed strong interest in collaborating with QASA, particularly in referring their spinal cord injury patients to join QASA as members. This referral pathway will ensure that patients gain access to QASA’s essential projects and services, further strengthening continuity of support for individuals with spinal cord injuries in Bloemfontein.

🤝 QASA Outreach – Pelonomi Hospital Visit 🏨

On 25 February, QASA visited Pelonomi Hospital for a productive and inspiring meeting with their therapy team and two orthopaedic surgeons. The engagement was a resounding success, with the Pelonomi team committing to serve as an official referral link for their spinal cord injury patients. This means more patients will now be guided to join QASA, giving them access to our vital projects, services and support.

A special highlight of the visit was the identification of two new potential Community Partners in the area—local champions who will help strengthen QASA’s presence and support network in Bloemfontein and surrounds.

We look forward to building this partnership and ensuring more individuals with spinal cord injuries receive the support, information, and opportunities they deserve.

Together, we roll forward.

🌟 QASA Free State Outreach — Nurture Hillandale Visit! 🌟

QASA spent a productive day with the multidisciplinary team at Nurture Hillandale Rehabilitation, where our Project Coordinator presented QASA’s full range of services and encouraged both the team and their spinal cord injury patients to subscribe to Rolling Inspiration and sign up for QASA membership to access our services and programmes.

The session closed on a high note with the identification of a potential community partner who will help strengthen support for patients through follow‑up visits and community-based engagement. This collaboration between QASA & Nurture Hillandale ensures that patients with spinal cord injuries have the necessary support provided by QASA to live their lives to their full potential.

💙 Another meaningful step in building strong partnerships and expanding QASA’s impact across the Free State.

🌟 QASA Free State Outreach — EmoyaMed Visit! 🌟

QASA received a warm welcome from the multidisciplinary team at EmoyaMed Rehabilitation Hospital in Bloemfontein. Our Project Coordinator presented QASA’s services and encouraged the team to refer their spinal cord injury patients for membership, along with sharing Rolling Inspiration as an information and motivation resource.

The team raised ongoing challenges with medical aid rejections for assistive devices. QASA advised them to formally submit these concerns so they can be escalated to the Department of Health.

A separate concern was limited access to accessible housing for patients upon discharge. QASA highlighted that members can apply for support through our Accessible Homes Project.

💙 Strengthening partnerships. Improving access. Supporting recovery.

🌟 QASA Strengthening Support in the Free State! 🌟

QASA met with APD Free State and visited the Jean Webber residence, which is located on the same property as the APD office. Together, we explored a referral pathway for APD’s quadriplegic and paraplegic community members to join QASA and access our services. APD highlighted ongoing challenges in securing assistive devices, and QASA will be escalating these concerns directly to the Department of Health.

During our visit to the residence, 25 residents became QASA members, giving them access to QASA’s full range of support, including the opportunity to join our Employment Project to pursue work, skills development, and greater independence.

💙 Building partnerships. Expanding access. Empowering communities.

🌟 QASA Expanding Impact in Welkom! 🌟

Our outreach journey continued at Bongani Regional Hospital in Welkom, where QASA met with the dedicated multi‑disciplinary therapy team. We began by listening to their vital role in stabilising patients with spinal cord injuries before referral for rehabilitation.

The team highlighted key challenges, limited wheelchair and assistive device stock, and patients struggling with home accessibility. These align directly with QASA’s Assistive Devices and Accessible Homes services, giving us an opportunity to provide real, practical support.

We’re excited that the Bongani team will be referring their spinal cord injury patients to QASA for membership, ensuring access to our life‑changing projects and services. Even more promising, the therapy team will also be identifying two potential QASA Community Partners to support members in Welkom and surrounding areas.

🤝 Together, we are building stronger pathways to independence, dignity, and opportunity.

🌟 QASA Strengthening Impact in the Free State! 🌟

QASA had the privilege of meeting the dedicated therapy team at Albert Nzula Hospital in Trompsburg. Our Project Coordinator and General Manager shared QASA’s projects and services, offering practical solutions to the systemic challenges faced in accessing wheelchairs and assistive devices for patients with spinal cord injuries.

The session was a success — the therapy team will now be referring their spinal cord injury patients to QASA for membership, opening the door to vital support, resources, and opportunities.

We also welcomed a potential community partner, who received a Bag of Hope, marking the start of a meaningful relationship.

🤝 QASA looks forward to a strong and impactful collaboration with the Albert Nzula therapy team and our new partner as we continue empowering people with spinal cord injuries across the Free State.

🎉 Congratulations, Kiah! 🎉

QASA is incredibly proud to celebrate Kiah on achieving her driver’s licence!

Through determination and the support of QASA’s Driving Ambitions Programme, Kiah has taken a big step toward greater independence, and we’re honoured to have been part of her journey.

Kiah shared this with us: “Getting my driver’s licence was a huge personal achievement, and QASA’s Driving Ambitions made it possible. The support, encouragement, and access to a car with hand control equipment made the whole process so much easier. Thank you, QASA.”

Well done, Kiah! Your success is an inspiration, and we can’t wait to see the doors this achievement opens for you.
