The main objective of the Centre for Applied Psychology (CAP) is to provide psychotherapy, counselling, and assessment services for adults and children.
The Psychology Clinic is located at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Howard College Campus.
We are open from March to September each year, and our therapy sessions are by appointment only.
We do not have a “Walk-In” counselling service.
We offer short-term treatments for the following concerns:
Ø Depression
Ø Interpersonal conflict
Ø Anxiety
Ø Trauma
Ø Behavioural concerns
Ø HIV/ Aids (Pre, post, and ongoing counselling)
Ø Personality Disorders
Ø Couple and Marriage counselling
Support groups are also available for:
Ø Anxiety
Ø Depression
Ø HIV/ Aids
We are providing time-limited psychological services to individuals. The first 3 sessions will be free of charge. Thereafter, if you would like to continue counselling, the rate will be R200 per session.
Our assessments are R1 700 per assessment. This includes the Assessment report.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to assist in school-related/Educational Assessments.
Services include one-on-one psychotherapy, support groups for individuals experiencing psychological distress, and support groups for those facing difficulties.
Services will be Face-to-Face counselling at our clinic. We also offer online Support on the Zoom video conferencing and text therapy platforms.
Support groups will run for a period of 1.5 hours, while individual therapy will last for 1 hour.
