More than 70 percent of premature babies are born between 34 and 36 weeks gestation. 12 percent of premature babies are born between 32 and 33 weeks gestation. 10 percent of premature babies are born between 28 and 32 weeks gestation. 6 percent of premature babies are born before 28 weeks gestation.
At Netcare St Augustines NICU we see a large majority of premmie babies and fair number of these have been less than 28 weeks gestation.
I am so honored to be apart of this exceptional team. Well done to our little warriors, warrior mums/dads and warrior staff👏🏼👏🏼

It is with such a heavy heart that I have to inform you that our lovely brave, strong, happy and bubbly Nomvelo has passed away 😢💔
She had sustained a gunshot injury during the riots in KZN. She was an innocent bystander trying to get to work. I am so devastated by news of her passing. My deepest sympathies to her family and friends, she will be sorely missed. May her soul Rest In Peace 🙏🏼

Please note that the numbers in KZN are rising, there are still a large number of active COVID positive patients. We all need to take the relevant precautions and avoid large events. Received communication yesterday from the DOH regarding the matric rage that has now been deemed as a super spreader event. Please inform family and friends who might have been at this event, not the relevant important contact numbers and take care, the second wave is coming to KZN.

The number of new COVID cases are rising in the UK, Spain and France. In South Africa our new COVID cases are decreasing but this does not mean that we need to be complacent. We still need to be vigilant about hand washing, social distancing and wearing protective gear.

As KZN approaches the peak of COVID 19, I wanted to mention a few things:-
- COVID 19 doesn’t discriminate- old, young, rich, poor, educated or not
- we need to still continue with all the precautions, wear a mask, wash your hands and socially distance
- pandemic fatigue is real, mentally it is difficult but we can triumph over this
