We all are guilty of Anxiety self-diagnosis😐
Anxiety is an emotion that is actually normal. It is the brain’s reaction to stress and warning the person of possible danger.
Occasional anxiety is fine. Every person feels anxious now and again, e.g. worrying about a problem at work.
BUT…Anxiety disorders are not normal.
Anxiety disorders cause constant anxiety and fear that is overwhelming and there are different types of them:
• Generalized anxiety disorder: Excessive worry due to a small or no reason
• Panic disorder: Fear that is intense and sudden, accompanied by sweating, chest pain and heart palpitations.
• Social anxiety disorder: Worrying about daily social situations, e.g. about being judged by others or being embarrassed.
• Specific phobias: Excessive fear of a particular object or situation, e.g. fear of heights.
• Agoraphobia: Excessive fear of being in a place seemingly difficult to escape from or receive assistance in emergency situations, e.g. being on an airplane.
• Separation anxiety: Feeling intense anxiety or fear when a person with whom you are close leaves your sight.
• Selective Mutism: In this type of disorder, children speak normally with family members. However, they do not talk in a public environment, e.g. a school.
• Medication-induced anxiety: Certain anxiety disorder symptoms caused by using certain medications or illegal drugs, or the withdrawal of certain drugs.
