It is a grey late Sunday afternoon in McGregor, a strong wind blowing fiercely through the trees. I arrived at Temenos Retreat in McGregor Friday afternoon, just as the first cold front and rain of the season season set in.
This past weekend I facilitated my first retreat of the year: The Centred Mind: A State of Clarity, Wellness & Peace. I shared the beautiful spaces at Temenos with 4 participants and a mutually enriching and inspirational weekend unfolded through listening to each other's gathered wisdom and stories.
Friday evening we spent some time focusing on conscious and mindful breathing practices. Saturday morning we were blessed with a windstill and clear morning, and we witnessed a beautiful sunrise over McGregor as we went for a refreshing walk in De Krans Nature Reserve before the first meditation of the day. The rest of the day was dedicated to Colour Dialogue and the group version of the Mandala Assessment Research Instrument (MARI), both intuitive processes that access the unconscious in a profound way, transcending language and providing clarity on internal processes and life situations. It has the added benefit of stimulating creativity in a powerful way, as this retreat has proved.
We closed the evenings off with sound journeys. Sunday morning we started with a basic Tai Chi/Qigong movement practice, followed by walking the labyrinth as a group, always a powerful experience for participants. Meditation and breakfast was followed by quiet time focus on reintegration and doing more artwork. We concluded with a Sharing Circle and the Lovingkindness Meditation.
I am tired, but feel blessed and inspired. I am forever grateful to be able to do this work.
My upcoming retreats at Temenos are the following:
🌀 Meditation Retreat: Entering the Threshold of Mystery, 3-4 July.
🌀 Restore, Restory, Rekindle: An Embodiment Retreat, 9-11 October.
