🩺 Let’s talk about perimenopause — because silence helps no one.

For many South African women, perimenopause arrives quietly — and then turns everything upside down. One day you're balancing work, parenting, and caring for ageing parents... the next, you're navigating night sweats, brain fog, mood swings, or changes in your cycle that leave you wondering: “Is this normal?”

The answer: Yes. It’s perimenopause — a natural, but often misunderstood stage of life.

At our practice, we see how many women feel overwhelmed, unprepared, or dismissed when seeking help. That’s why we’re committed to validating your experience, providing support, and helping you feel like yourself again.

With the right tools and care, perimenopause doesn’t have to be a struggle you face alone. We can help with:
🌿 Personalised medical care and symptom relief
🌿 Lifestyle support (sleep, nutrition, stress management)
🌿 Compassionate conversations and guidance

Let’s normalise perimenopause — and empower women through it.
Your body may be changing, but your strength and value are not.

Reach out if you’re curious, confused, or just need someone to talk to. We’re here for you 🩷

🌸 Hello Spring! 🌸
The days are getting warmer, flowers are blooming… and yes, allergy season is here!
If you’re feeling the sniffles, sneezes, or itchy eyes creeping in, you’re not alone. Here are a few do’s and don’ts to help you breeze through spring:

✅ Do start your antihistamines early – once symptoms hit, they’re harder to manage.
✅ Do use your nasal steroid spray daily for best results – aim straight back, not up, and gently sniff.
âś… Do keep windows closed on high pollen days and shower after being outside to rinse pollen off.

🚫 Don’t overuse decongestant sprays – they can cause rebound congestion.
🚫 Don’t wait until symptoms are severe – early action is key!

If allergies are getting the better of you, don’t suffer in silence – come in and see us. We can help tailor a treatment plan that works for you.

Here’s to sunny days and clearer noses! 🌼

🧠 July is Mental Illness Awareness Month in South Africa 🧠

Mental health matters—with over 30% of South Africans likely to experience a mental illness in their lifetime, and around 16–17% dealing with one each year, it's time we normalise prioritising our mental wellbeing.

💬 Awareness is the first step. Recognising stress, anxiety, depression—or simply needing support—should be seen as a sign of strength, not weakness. It starts with talking openly, checking in with loved ones, and seeking help early.

🌱 Prioritize self-care every day. Whether it’s a walk in nature, time with family, rest, or professional counselling—small daily actions can build resilience. Self-care is not selfish; it’s essential.

❌ End the stigma. Too many are silent sufferers. In SA, 90% of those living with mental health conditions never receive the care they need . Let's change that by normalising mental health conversations—at home, at work, in our communities.

👥 Let’s build supportive spaces where it’s okay to say “I’m not okay” and get help. Mental wellbeing benefits everyone: individuals, families, communities—and our nation’s future.

🗣️ Take action this July:

🌟 Start a conversation about how you’re feeling.
🤝 Share trusted mental health resources.
📌 Reach out for professional support when it matters.

Together, we can shift the narrative—from stigma to support—and make mental health a priority for all 💙

📢 Get Your Flu Vaccine: Protect Yourself and Others This Season!

With flu season fast approaching, it’s a great time to talk about the flu vaccine and why it’s so important. If you have any questions or would like to book an appointment, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.

🩺Who should get the flu vaccine?
Everyone aged six months and older should get the flu vaccine, especially those at higher risk of complications. This includes pregnant women, young children, the elderly, and those with chronic conditions like asthma, diabetes, or heart disease. Getting vaccinated helps protect not only yourself but also those around you who may be more vulnerable.

🩺Why is it a good idea to get the flu shot?
The flu can cause serious illness, hospitalisation, and even death, particularly in vulnerable populations. The flu vaccine is the best way to prevent the spread of the flu and reduce the severity of symptoms if you do catch it. It’s a simple and safe step to help keep yourself and your community healthy during flu season.

🩺Can the flu shot give you the flu?
No, the flu vaccine cannot give you the flu. The flu vaccine contains either inactivated (dead) virus or a tiny piece of the virus, which triggers your immune system to prepare for future infections. Any mild symptoms you may experience after the vaccine (like a sore arm or mild fever) are common and much less severe than actual flu symptoms.

🩺How does the flu vaccine work?
When you get the flu shot, your body starts to build immunity by producing antibodies to fight the flu virus. These antibodies stay in your system, so if you’re exposed to the flu virus later, your body will already know how to defend itself, reducing the chance of severe illness.

Stay safe this flu season – get vaccinated, and help protect yourself and your community! 🙌
