World Parkinsonโ€™s Day- Sunday 11th April 2021 kicks off Parkinsons Awareness week from 11 April to 17th April.
As there is no cure for Parkinsonโ€™s, this is an annual opportunity to raise awareness to support people with living with the condition, to improve quality of life and to ensure that people live better for longer.
This year, the theme will be Mental Health in Parkinsonโ€™s ๐Ÿ’ฌ๐Ÿง 
Up to 50% of people with Parkinsonโ€™s will suffer from Anxiety or Depression at some point during their illness.
Living with Anxiety or Depression with Parkinsonโ€™s will worsen symptoms such as tremor, stiffness, sleep problems and pain and much more. When left untreated, Anxiety and Depression reduces quality of life.

Today is Healthy Lifestyle Awareness day! ๐ŸŽŠ

โ€˜Healthy livingโ€™ means maintaining a healthy lifestyle and introducing habits that improve your health. It can be difficult to change old habits, but there are steps you can take to become healthier. An important first step is identifying less healthy habits and learning new, positive ones to replace them. Such as:

- What you eat and drink
- Sleeping well and managing stress
- Being physically active
- Staying connected with others

It has been approximately two months since New Years Day, where many of us vowed to eat healthier and exercise more; Whilst today is not only a reminder to live healthier lives, but also a boost to get those lifestyle resolutions back on track!

Today is World Cancer Day.

The theme this year is:

Here is some info relating to the importance of exercise and seeing a Bio to:
1) prevent Cancer
2) exercise safely during Cancer treatment
3) recovery phase from Cancer
Exercise is believed to affect the internal environment of the cell to suppress the growth of a tumour. There is evidence that physical activity reduces the cellโ€™s capacity for multiplying. It activates the genetic programming accountable for suppressing tumours, and increases markers of programmed cell death (essential for normal cell growth). All three functions above are the exact processes needed to fight against the development of cancer. Physical activity also improves blood flow in the poorly constructed blood vessels in the tumour, helping chemotherapies and the immune system to fight the tumour. The latter explains the meaningfulness of exercise during cancer treatment. Another benefit is that exercise can also help improve your emotional wellbeing which in return will help you stick to your cancer treatment regime .
