What You Should Know About Blue Light & Your Eyes
Blue light is all around us—from sunlight to screens—but is it harming your eyes?
The Good: Blue light boosts alertness and mood during the day.
The Caution: Too much screen time at night can disrupt your sleep by slowing melatonin production.
A Fact: Digital eye strain really happens, but it is caused by how we use screens, not blue light itself.
Quick Tips for Eye Comfort:
Follow the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds
Blink often
Sit at arm’s length from screens
Use artificial tears if your eyes feel dry

What Is Colour Blindness?
Colour blindness, or colour deficiency, affects how people perceive certain colours; most often red and green, sometimes blue. It occurs when the cone cells in the eye (which detect colour) do not work properly or are missing.
Most colour blindness is inherited and present from birth, but it can also develop later due to disease, trauma, or medications. It affects about 1 in 10 men and is much rarer in women.

Symptoms may include:
• Trouble distinguishing shades of red, green, or blue
• Difficulty seeing colours in dim light
• Rare cases see the world only in shades of grey

There is no cure for inherited colour blindness. If you notice sudden changes in colour vision, it is important to see an ophthalmologist. It could be a sign of something more serious.

If you are experiencing any problems with colour vision do not hesitate to book an appointment today. Contact us on 043 743 4334📱

Did you know cataracts can look very different depending on the cause?
From birth-related congenital cataracts to those caused by diabetes or injury, each type affects vision in unique ways.

Here is a closer look at:
Mature (Nuclear) Cataracts – Dense, opaque, and vision-blocking.
Congenital Cataracts – Present at birth and can impact a child’s vision for life if untreated.
Diabetic Snowflake Cataracts – A rare form linked to uncontrolled diabetes.
Traumatic Cataracts – Caused by eye injuries, like paintball impacts, and often preventable with proper eyewear.
Protect your eyes and stay informed—vision is priceless! 👓✨

Blurry, Hazy Vision? It Could Be Cataracts 👁️
Cataracts can make everyday tasks feel harder for example driving, reading, or seeing faces. But the good news? Cataract surgery is a procedure that replaces your cloudy lens with a clear, artificial one. Most people notice better vision within days!
Here is what you should know:
It’s quick, the surgery usually lasts under an hour
Recovery involves the usage of eye drops

Do not let cataracts cloud your life. Talk to your eye care provider about whether surgery is right for you.

Give Your Eyes a Break!
If you are staring at a screen all day, your eyes need a break. Try the 20-20-20 Rule:
Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet (roughly 6 meters) away for 20 seconds.
It helps reduce digital eye strain, fatigue, and headaches — especially during long workdays.
